Weapon (rapier), artifact (requires attunement)

The 3rd artifact of Lockraath. The artifact of the stalker contains the spiritual essence of a thousand assassins, thieves, rogues, and other scoundrels, and imbues its wielder with mastery over the arts of stealth and ambush. You can only attune to one artifact of Lockraath. While attuned, you gain the following benefits.

Ability Score Increase. Your Dexterity score is increased by 2. This can raise your score over 20.

Proficiencies. You gain proficiency in the Stealth and Acrobatics skills, as well as in Thieves' Tools and the Poisoner's Kit. If you already have proficiency in any of these, you gain expertise instead. You also gain the ability to understand and convey messages in thieves' cant.

Meld With Shadows. You blend in and become silent when in dim light or darkness, silencing your footsteps and breathing, and imposing disadvantage on checks made to find you, as well as advantage on your own Stealth checks. You also leave no trail or evidence or your passing.

Stalker's Pursuit. Your speed is increased by 10, you can take the dash action as a bonus action, and you gain a climb speed equal to your walk speed. If you already had a climb speed or could already dash as a bonus action, you gain another 10 added to your speed for each.

Preparation. You prepare a deadly strike the longer you wait before attacking. While you have an enemy in view, for each turn that passes without you making an attack, you gain 1 preparation token (max 10). When making an attack, consume all tokens to increase the damage by 2 per token (doubled by a critical hit) and also reduce the number you need to naturally roll to land a critical hit by 1. You do not gain tokens while incapacitated, and you lose all tokens if none are gained after 5 rounds.

Ambush. When you attack a target that cannot see you, or attack right as you come into view (you must be visible for no longer than 1 second before attacking), you have advantage on the attack roll and cannot gain disadvantage on it. You are also treated as having 3 more preparation tokens than you actually have, though you must have at least 1 token to benefit from this effect.

Shadow Cloak. The artifact has 10 charges. As an action, you can expend 1 charge to become invisible until you attack or run out of charges. Each turn you begin while still invisible costs 1 charge. Killing an enemy with the artifact restores 1 charge, or 2 if the kill was the result of a critical hit. 5 charges are also replenished after a long rest.

Proficiency with a Rapier allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Vex. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to the creature, you have Advantage on your next attack roll against that creature before the end of your next turn.

Notes: Finesse, Vex
