Anamnesis Crystal is a memory storage device specific to an individuals' memories. A person usually uses a crystal prior to death as a means of preserving and archiving history. Although a single crystal can be used throughout a person's life, it must be cleansed and reattuned prior to each use.
The device consists of a special crystalline amalgam shaped around a glass and copper mounting and blood collection mechanism.
In order to store a memory, the crystal must first be attuned to the individual. The individual first maintains skin-to-skin contact with the crystal for a period equal to a short rest. This attunes the crystal to the individual. After, the person must sleep with the crystal close to their head this allows attunement to the psyche of the individual to eliminate 'memories' based in their imagination and pull real memories from their subconscious. Upon waking immediately, they add a drop of blood to the crystal which absorbs the individuals' memories until that point.
In order to add more memories, the crystal needs to be cleansed in a specific potion for a full day, then reattuned to the individual as described above.
To access the memories, the crystal needs to be placed in an altar with a power source, and image display mechanism.
It is possible to preserve the memories of an Anamnesis crystal longer by having someone view it prior to degradation, and immediately create their own crystal, adding the viewed memories to their own record.
Notes: each time a crystal's memories are views, quality degrades. After the 2nd viewing, colors fade and fine details blur. By the 5th viewing images are dark blurs.
