Weapon (javelin), legendary (requires attunement by a Ranger)

If a creature that is a Monstrosity or Beast takes damage from the javelin, the creature makes a DC 17 Constitution saving throw, taking an extra 1d10 Force damage on a failed save or half as much extra damage on a successful one.

If the creature is killed by any damage dealt by the javelin, the javelin's extra damage increases by 1d10.

After making an attack that deals 7d10 extra damage, the javelin becomes non-magical.

The weathered sea dog boasted that he would slay a great sea beast with naught but his old harpoon. The tavern laughed in his face, assaulting him with a barrage of jeers. Though the sailor died before proving his naysayers wrong, his trusty harpoon remains.

Proficiency with a Javelin allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
