Weapon (glaive), rare (requires attunement)

This scythe pulses with radiant energy. The silvered blade gleams with a mournful light, and faint weeping can be heard when it is unsheathed in silence. The weapon bears an angelic rune — now cracked and glowing with sacred fury.

Weapon Profile (Battle Scythe):
Martial melee weapon
Damage: 1d10 slashing
Properties: Heavy, two-handed, reach
Proficiency: Fighters, Paladins, Clerics (if proficient with martial weapons)

Magical Properties:

  • +1 Enhancement:
You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this weapon.
  • Celestial Reservoir (Attuned Feature):
A hidden chamber within the weapon can hold up to one flask of holy water. When the scythe is swung, divine mechanisms release radiant mist along the blade. While filled, the scythe deals an extra 1d6 radiant damage to undead and fiends on hit.  The holy water is consumed over 10 successful hits. Refilling the reservoir requires one action and a flask of holy water.
  • Tears of Judgment (Rare Feature):
When you reduce an undead or fiend to 0 hit points with this weapon, you can choose to release a burst of divine sorrow. Each undead or fiend within 10 feet of the slain creature must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened until the end of their next turn.
You can use this feature twice per long rest.

Optional Curse: Echo of the Silent Choir

Wielder Beware—the weapon mourns not only for the dead, but for the living it cannot save.

  • Once attuned, the weapon begins to whisper its sorrow telepathically. Each time a friendly creature within 30 feet of you drops to 0 hit points, you must succeed on a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw or be overwhelmed with divine grief, suffering disadvantage on attack rolls until the end of your next turn.
  • The curse is subtle and emotional—detectable only through identify or by divine revelation. The only way to remove this curse is to un-attune with the weapon, but doing so will reduce the weapon back to a simple +1 item.

Attunement Description

As you grasp the scythe, the metal is cool to the touch, but not lifeless. The etched Celestial script glows faintly, responding to your presence. You feel a pressure behind your eyes—a soft weight, not painful, but somber. Visions flicker: an angel kneeling in a ruined city, her wings broken, her tears falling onto a blade just like this one. A warmth spreads from your hands into your chest—not fire, but something holier. A quiet weeping echoes faintly in your mind, soon joined by a distant hymn sung by unseen voices. For a brief moment, the immense sorrow overwhelms you.  A solitary tear escapes your eye, but never drops to the ground. You sense the weapon accepts you, but not without burden. You are no longer just a wielder; you are a bearer of memory, a vessel for divine sorrow. The attunement completes with a breathless moment of silence, followed by a pulse of radiant light from the reservoir.

Accepted in the spirit it was offered, your tear has charged the weapon.  The reservoir gleams with hope, the blade prepared to respond to your will—ready to strike down the unholy.

Proficiency with a Glaive allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Graze. If your attack roll with this weapon misses a creature, you can deal damage to that creature equal to the ability modifier you used to make the attack roll. This damage is the same type dealt by the weapon, and the damage can be increased only by increasing the ability modifier.
