Ashfeather (or insert your chosen pre-awakened name)
Weapon (katana/longsword), rare (requires attunement by a creature of good or neutral alignment)
Forged in the aftermath of a divine fire, this elegant katana hums with quiet heat and restrained fury. Its blade is etched with feather-like filigree, and the hilt is wrapped in crimson silk scorched at the edges. Ashfeather burns not only with elemental flame, but with the memory of a fallen Windlord and the promise of balance yet to come.
While attuned to this weapon, you gain the following benefits:
-
Flame-Touched. When you hit with an attack using this weapon, it deals an additional 1d8 fire damage.
-
Judgment of the Lost. When you strike a creature that is a member of the Hiryū-Shinkō clan or is aligned with them, the weapon deals an additional 1d6 radiant damage.
-
Phoenix’s Pulse (1/day). When you are reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, you may choose to drop to 1 hit point instead. When you do, you erupt in a 10-foot radius burst of radiant flame. Each creature of your choice in that area must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw, taking 4d6 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. On a failed save, creatures are also blinded until the end of their next turn. Once this property is used, it cannot be used again until you finish a long rest.
Upgradeable.
Ashfeather is not yet whole. When personal quests tied to the reclamation of your homeland and the restoration of Gwaihir’s legacy are completed, the weapon may awaken to its true form: the Blade of Balance.
Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Sap. If you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.
