Beneath Claudia’s ever-focused gaze, there lies a secret even her closest companion, Theren, doesn't know. Her left eye—the same radiant blue as her right—is not her own. It's mechanical. As a child, during the same tragic incident that cost her an arm, Claudia also lost her eye. The only being who is aware of this, is her guardian, Professor Calyx Gearwright. Over the years, piece by piece, enchantment by enchantment, she crafted a perfect replica. It moves, blinks, and shines like the real thing—but within it hums arcane energy. This eye, linked to a subtle matrix of artificer’s wiring and arcane circuits, and currently allows her to use the Identify spell without touching whatever it is that she is using it for. Below is what it will eventually become.

This eye, linked to a subtle matrix of artificer’s wiring and arcane circuits, holds the following abilities:

• Spell-Stored Function (Identify): The eye contains three charges of the Identify spell, which replenish each long rest. No casting time is required—Claudia simply stares, and the magic works. When she uses this, she pretends that she is using the spell by touching the items, however she doesn't need too. She has worked hard to keep up the farce, as to not let others know of her eye.

• Veilpiercer Sight: The eye allows Claudia to see any invisible creature or object within a 20-foot radius. The enchantment works passively, with a soft pulse of blue energy when it detects something cloaked to the naked eye.

In her workshop, nestled among brass limbs, humming contraptions, and alchemical glass, are at least half a dozen other prototype eyes. Each with different enchantment focuses—one with night vision capabilities, another enchanted for divination tuning, one that might even record memories. The possibilities are endless, and Claudia never stops improving.

No one knows. Not even Theren. If they did, they'd ask questions. Questions she’s not ready to answer.
