This aged brass lantern is etched with runes of vigilance and mourning, and always feels faintly warm to the touch, even when unlit. A strange, ghostly blue flame flickers faintly within the glass until called upon.

Properties:

  • Echolight (1/day).
    As an action, you can light the Lantern of Echoes. For 1 minute, it emits a pale blue light in a 60-foot radius that pierces through both mundane and magical concealment.

    While lit:

    • Invisible creatures and objects within the radius are outlined in blue flame and visible to all creatures.

    • Creatures hidden in magical fog, mist, or heavy obscurement are clearly revealed and cannot benefit from being unseen.

    • Mistbound entities (such as creatures of the Veil or those influenced by it) glow faintly, even if behind cover, giving advantage on Perception checks to locate them.

  • Light the Forgotten. While the lantern is lit, ghosts and spirits within 60 feet cannot turn invisible or phase out of the Ethereal Plane. They remain anchored as long as the lantern burns.

  • Flickering Glow. The light has no effect in bright sunlight or against creatures fully submerged in water. The lantern’s light can be extinguished early as a bonus action.
