Hello, and welcome to The Lightning Games! Our goal is to host a PvP Tournament for Dungeons and Dragons: 5th Edition. Putting teams of two players against each other in a bracket, competing for a grand prize of two $20 amazon gift cards! If this sounds like something you would be interested in, please read the following.
"Entries for the competition and the application process will consist through May 11 2022 - May 26 2022. Applications must be submitted on The Lightning Games Roll20 webpage, under "Applications Here". Winners will be selected based on the criteria of their skill and merit, beating all contesting teams within their bracket in a two versus two battle playing the game Dungeons & Dragons: 5th Edition. The grand prize will be awarded the day of the winning team's victory, or the day after. The winning team members must respond to their award within a reasonable amount of time, within a month after their victory, in order to receive their prize.
You must be 18+ years of age to compete in the tournament. Applications will be chosen based on preference and the general expectations of a player, described below:
"No prejudice or bigotry. A game should be fun for everyone playing, and insulting someone's race, gender, religion, or sexuality is not something we will tolerate.
Be a team player. Cooperation is key to success, especially in this environment. If you cannot play well with another person, you need not apply.
Resolve issues with the GM, not other players. If there is a problem, we expect you to direct it towards the referees. We have experience in conflict resolution and will aim to make sure there are no hurt feelings."
If we suspect you to be incapable of following expectations, you will not be considered during the application process. If you are considered, you will be invited to the game on Roll20, and be an active contestant in the Lightning Games."
For character creation, please follow the Character Creation Guidelines below:
"All characters that are competing must be Level 5.
You must only use Adventure's League Universal Resources: Player's Handbook Volo's Guide to Monsters Xanathar's Guide to Everything Tasha's Cauldron of Everything
No Unearthed Arcana material
We are enforcing Multi-class rules. To qualify for a new class, you must meet the ability score prerequisites for both your current class and your new one, as shown in the Multiclassing Prerequisites table on pg. 163 - pg. 165 of the Player's Handbook.
Feats are allowed.
Standard 27 Point Buy for character creation. No attribute may exceed a 16 at character creation unless this has been achieved through a racial bonus / feat / ASI.
Take average for classes to determine hit points.
Use starting equipment with 1 common magic item and 1 uncommon magic item.
Spells and magic items that include summoning other creatures are not allowed. However, creature companions that are included in class features, classes such as ranger and artificer, will still be allowed.
Any item or spell that allows for you, your teammate, or the enemy to leave the battle field are not allowed."
If you have read this far put an * at the end of your application.
Hey! Here's my next video in the series. I hope you guys enjoy, and tell me what you think. I'm always learning what I'm doing right and what I'm doing wrong.
Thanks! And the grapple thing I mentioned, I actually made another video covering that. Lets see if that appeases the nit pickers lol https://youtu.be/7SA67ptLUmQ
Thank you! I appreciate it. I've had some people get upset about the terminology of it all, (there isn't such a thing as a main action, only action!) which was kind of lame. If people are new and hear "action", there's so many things in the game that use that word. I feel like making easily identifiable categories was a good idea.
I bungled grapple though. That actually shouldn't be put in the main action category, since its just part of the attack action.
Hey, everybody! I'm starting a new YouTube series that covers those vague rules that take a little while to understand. Now you can understand them in under a minute! I hope you enjoy. Also, can you tell me what you think I should do next or criticism of the video? I want to make sure the next vid is even better.

Theres a particular item that you might like called the cursed Necklace of Fireballs for 5e. Iirc, the item has 8 beads that all detonate at the same time, each bead has a fireball spell stored in it.

It looks as though I am now the last comment. Sorry, lads; but I want to win.
