    :vtt: | Premise:

Long ago, the wizard Bran Willowshore roamed this realm. A respected member of the Ars Arcanorum Academy, he was well known and relatively well liked among his peers. His papers on necromancy made some great strides in his field, and many of his writings are still used today in modern magic education. However, Bran’s mortal coil started taking its toll, and as is the case for many wizards such as himself, he seeked a way to extend his lifespan to continue his research. Thankfully for Bran, his specific field of study proved useful in unlocking the key to true immortality: Lichdom.
He started a cult under the guise of Fralum, a foul sorcerer of undeath. With Illusion magic, he masked his true identity and conducted his research into the ritual to Lichdom during the night. Gathering loyal cultists to assist him in this endeavor, he established his hideout within a temple to Vaah, God of Shadows. He gathered the required materials and sacrifices for the ritual, but in this gathering he was too reckless. News spread of the wizards' search for immortality, and adventurers were dispatched to put an end to this search.
A great battle was fought within the Shadow Temple, leaving no survivors, including Bran himself.
With no survivors to report back, but no lich, the people of the Realm assumed Bran Willowshore was no more, and in the passing years, not much has happened to argue this fact.

Now, the Shadow Temple lays silent and abandoned, still filled with the bodies of those slain within, and the traps set to stop the assault.
Rumors spread that in the Wizard’s search for immortality, many useful magical trinkets and artifacts have gathered dust within the Temple’s walls for many years now. And as rumors have a tendency to do in this Realm, adventurers caught wind of them.

Those adventurers are you all. You are an adventuring group that’s delved into the Shadow Temple to locate any valuables you may be able to find.

Will you be able to brave the Shadow Temple?

The Realm of Milnir has stood the test of time for millennia. Kingdoms, communities, empires and entire cultures have risen and fallen. Many beings have inhabited the land, walked its surface and called it their home, and now it is no different. And one thing has remained constant throughout all of history: Violence. Necessary and unnecessary, for money or bloodlust, for fear or power or greed, for as long as two living beings have walked this Realm, someone has wished another harm. Now, we live in a more civilized era, finding ourselves in the Age of Progress, where change is as frequent as breathing for Milnir's inhabitants. We have moved away from the more dangerous, bloodthirsty times of the past, where wars raged and nations killed each other for hundreds of years. But this progress does not remove the threats that always have and probably always will revel in the unbridled thrill of chaos: Monstrosities, corrupted aberrations, the ravening beasts of the cold tundra of Halsar, the demonic entities of The Abyss. Across of history, ever since mortalkind started building communities and settlements, we've had to fend off against the creatures that threaten our existence, and as one might assume, some individuals appeared to have a knack for it. Monster Hunters, Slayers of the Silver Blade, Sellswords, Mercenaries, whatever you call them. When no-one else is willing to face the nightmares of the night, or the threats of that which lies beyond the veil, these folks arrive. Borderline suicidal, a Slayer is a sight to behold, and so are the things they face. Most slayers do not live long. Many don't even get a swing in against their foes before succumbing to a mark way above their paygrade. Yet they remain all the same, throwing their lives away for a pouch full of gold. And these are their stories.

    🔸| What is this?:

Tales from the Hunter's Grimoire is not merely a single one-shot. It's not really a campaign, either. It's a series of stories. An anthology of the stories told by Slayers of Milnir, filled with great individuals whose names have long been forgotten. But they remain still, in the cautionary tales they've left behind. In the feats they've accomplished and which they'll never be applauded for. Of the many sacrifices that they've made, and that are only known and remembered by a select few. Who are you in this story?

Hi! If you're alright with paid games, I'm starting a campaign on Mondays at 8pm BRT called "Tales from the hunter's Grimoire" that explores the grim stories that the monster hunters of my homebrew setting of Milnir tell as cautionary tales. If you're interested at all, msg me at "_henryboi" on Discord for more info!

    Thanks for your time.

posted a message on Somewhat new player looking for a roleplay-heavy campaign

    Heya

I'm an 18 y/o dude looking for an RP heavy campaign that plays on Sundays, somewhere at around 6 pm EST, but the time can be discussed.

I've been playing DND 5e for around  6 months now and I've been having a blast. I've joined a couple campaigns that unfortunately either fell apart or I had to leave because of scheduling issues. I also run my own homebrew campaign, so I know how to play DND just fine. My own campaign is very heavily RP based, but DMing and actually playing an RP heavy campaign are very different experiences, so I'm looking to fill in my Sunday spot.

Please feel free to PM me with some info if you're in need of a player.
