One way that I have dealt with "fog" is to import the digital map into PowerPoint and then overlay a colored shape that I can then animate to disappear on a click. I can then have the Player version of the map on PowerPoint on my TV/external monitor and still have the DM version of the map concealed.

I did the same thing with a cheap 40 in TV. Then I save the maps from the adventures here into a PowerPoint and insert shaded squares over the areas the party hasn't explored yet and with a simple animation rule I can show them the area. With the right zoom and the party miniatures it gives my kids a better sense of what's going on.  I plan on looking into a program I found online called Arkenforge that will allow me to create my own maps with sound and animation.
