Thank you, this is incredibly helpful, and just in time for today's session. Also thanks for the tips on homebrew, updated mine and they all seem to be working. It may be rough for my players though - previously I just did a +0 for all monster saving throws to speed things up while juggling zoom, combat tracker, the map etc. Now I have no excuse to do it correctly ha

I agree this is a big problem. As is, the character builder is pretty impenetrable to anyone other than a very experienced and informed user. With how it is now, as the DM I would have to set up any new player characters for them. I'm pretty disappointed in the implementation of MotM here (not to get into the content of MotM, which I know people have very strong opinions about). I'm glad all races and monsters weren't just overwritten, but just duplicating them and then not even organizing the races/subraces the same way makes for a terrible user experience. There should be an actual versioning system, where each race/monster has just one entry with the option to select the version. This would also future-proof any subsequent changes. Beyond this, we need a long overdue revamp of toggling which content/version is allowed for a campaign, instead of the current limited toggles per character that don't really capture what as a DM we want our campaign to be. Why do we have a toggle specifically for Eberron Content, but not for every unique setting? What if some groups prefer to always default to the newer Tasha's and MotM rules, while others want to limit it to the core books?

The books are full of rollable tables - it would be great if these were actually integrated into gameplay. The simplest thing, just allowing us to roll the correct die in the compendium, is a start, but the really useful feature would be to allow the DM to send a table to the game log for a player to roll. I like to have the players roll on a table even if they don't know what they're rolling for. There would have to be a couple options to handle all the use cases. Sometimes you would want full view permissions, so the result rolled could just be displayed in the game log for the players. Other times, the DM would want to obscure the results and only see the result themselves. I think this would fit well with a larger game log revamp I hope we get someday, in which we are allowed to post things to it. As a DM, I would like to share lots of stuff to the game log, for example, the art in the books, read-out-loud text boxes, links to rules, etc.

It's really nice we can right click on the website or long press in the app to roll with advantage/disadvantage. I would prefer there were one less click though. Instead of selecting advantage/disadvantage and then "roll", why not simplify it with just three different roll buttons for advantage/flat/disadvantage?
Beyond that usability improvement, it would be nice if different conditions that render advantage/disadvantage (e.g. wearing plate for DEX checks) would automatically select the right type of roll instead of requiring the user to right click and select it manually. So, in the example of wearing plate, were the user to right click they would see the checkbox on the disadvantage for DEX checks, but could select another if wanted.
Finally, it would be nice if conditions and exhaustion actually had an effect on the character sheet and indicated whether there is advantage/disadvantage, or even an automatic failure. And the new update for variant encumbrance is great to have, but the heavily encumbered state doesn't indicate the correct disadvantages from the DMG.

I would find it really useful to have a system to share snippets of the sourcebooks/adventures with the party. For example, a player map, an image of an NPC, a monster stat block, or a great one would be the whole appendix of the waterdeep enchiridion in dragon heist. For content management i share sourcebooks and hide adventures. This allows me to send them relevant links to the sourcebooks, but they can never see anything in the adventures, and i wouldn't want to just open the floodgates and share everything with them. It would be a really cool feature to be able to share all these sort of things through the game log.

I was wondering if the community had any tips for hybrid sessions where you have both people in the room and remote. During the pandemic we were completely virtual using zoom and D&D Beyond, but as things opened up we started having more people in the room. Long-term we will always have some remote people because our party lives all over now.
Through a complicated setup of cables and cameras I arrived at a system that sort of works, using one mic, one big screen for visuals (primarily battle maps via foundry) that I screen share, and the zoom window. The end result works, but requires me to juggle 2-3 displays, I never know where I should look, the remote players often can't hear quite as well and kind of wait their turn instead of interrupting and driving things. I don't imagine there's a perfect solution, I was just curious what other people have come up with.

The way the feats have been implemented is pretty unintuitive, and (potentially?) bugged. I had a player choose the base option instead of the specialized option, e.g. Telekinetic instead of Telekinetic (charisma). I said it would be fine, because for other feats you get a dropdown where you can select the ability score increase. But if you choose the base option it doesn't actually do anything. Why is there an option that doesn't do anything? Am I supposed to be seeing that option, or do I have something strange enabled? Also, it's pretty messy from a usability standpoint to have so many entries, it would be simpler with just one entry and then dropdown options to customize the feat.

In the compendium and character builder it is really helpful when the content from all owned sources is automatically displayed, but there are a number of places on the website that don't follow this logic and it can make it more difficult to navigate and confusing to the players. For example, clicking the sources tab always shows everything (and with more books constantly published it is getting unmanageable). In the feats and races rule sections there is no simple way to filter by owned content. As the DM I know if something applies or not, but for my players it is more confusing. I try to convince them to look up the rules, but it would be much nicer if it only displayed the subset of options available to them through content sharing, just as it would for example when they are leveling up in the character builder.

Yes please, this would be very helpful! I just recently discovered I could make manual items through the inventory management, rather than homebrew, and this works fine for quest items, but not for anything functional.

Hi could I get a nickname credit please? Thanks
