Antimagic Susceptibility. The chain is incapacitated while in the area of an antimagic field. If targeted by dispel magic, the chain must succeed on a Constitution saving throw against the caster's spell save DC or fall unconscious for 1 minute.
False Appearance. While the chain remains motionless, it is indistinguishable from a normal length of chain.
Lash. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) bludgeoning damage.
Constrict. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 3) bludgeoning damage, and the target is grappled (escape DC 13). Until this grapple ends, the creature is restrained, and the chain can't constrict another target.
Description
When regular chains can't be trusted to hold a prisoner, some mages animate them, imbuing them with a desire to constrict and restrain. Slithering on the ground like snakes to hinder intruders, constricting chains can also be bound to a stable surface such as a wall or floor. This limits a chain's movement, but allows it to easily pull any grappled target toward the connection point regardless of the target's size or strength.
Constructed Nature. An animated object doesn't require air, food, drink, or sleep.
An animated object reduced to 0 hit points loses its animating magic. It becomes inanimate, and it is too damaged to be of much use or value to anyone.
