Description
Korth’s reptilian nature comes through not only in her appearance, but also in how she thinks and acts. Lizardfolk possess an alien and inscrutable mindset, their desires and thoughts driven by a different set of basic principles than those of warm-blooded creatures. Most humanoids describe cold-blooded people as lacking in emotion and empathy. The same label serves as an apt depiction of Korth, as with other lizardfolk. Despite her alien outlook and harsh home environment, Korth makes an effort to understand and, in her own manner, befriend people of other races, making Korth a faithful and skilled ally.
Like most Lizardfolk, Korth experiences a more limited emotional life than other humanoids. Like other reptiles, her feelings largely revolve around fear, aggression, and pleasure. Lacking any internal emotional reactions, Korth behaves in a distant manner. She doesn’t mourn fallen comrades or rage against her enemies. She simply observe and react as a situation warrants. However in battle, Korth can throw herself into a vicious feeding frenzy.
Korth’s lizardfolk mindset might seem unnecessarily cruel, but it helps her survive in a hostile environment. The entire world of Ravnica is a sprawling metropolis, but Korth is intimately familiar with areas of the city that most people shun: ruined neighborhoods where wurms rampaged, overgrown parks that no hand has tended in decades, and the vast, sprawling rubblebelts of broken terrain that civilized folk have long abandoned. Korth is part of a savage society that clings desperately to the Old Ways — attuned to nature, full of primal rage, and given short shrift by a world consumed with continuing civilization’s march of progress.
