Veteran's Value. As a veteran of the Long Patrol, this creature is afforded certain benefits. The veteran's weapon attacks count as magical and it is immune to the Frightened condition.

Strong Arm. The Lepus does not suffer disadvantage when attacking with heavy weapons due to its size.

Boltmaster. The Arbalest has a +2 on ranged attack rolls (already factored in).

Special Delivery (2E/Day). The Arbalest has a number of specialty bolts. As a bonus action they can choose to load one of these bolts, adding effects to their next heavy crossbow attack.

Heavy Thumper Bolt. With a thumper loaded, the Arbalest's crossbow deals bludgeoning damage, and a creature hit by it must make a DC 16 Strength saving throw or take 11 (2d10) thunder damage and be knocked Prone.

Marker Bolt. The Arbalest cannot add its dexterity to damage rolls made with the marker bolt, but the bolt sticks. Attacks made against a creature impaled by a marker bolt have advantage, and the bolt can be removed as a bonus action.

Smoke Bolt. The Arbalest chooses a point within the short range of its crossbow and fires its bolt there. It emits a cloud of smoke that creates a heavily obscured area in a 20-foot radius. A moderate wind (at least 10 miles per hour) disperses the smoke in 4 rounds; a strong wind (20 or more miles per hour) disperses it in 1 round.

Globber Bolt. The Bowcaster chooses a point within the short range of its crossbow and fires its bolt there. All creatures within a 20-foot radius of the chosen point must make a DC 16 Strength saving throw, taking 7 (2d6) acid damage and becoming Grappled on a failure, or half as much and no grapple on a success. A creature Grappled in this way can use their action to remake the save, freeing themselves on a success.

Actions

Multiattack. The Arbalest makes two Shortsword or Heavy Crossbow attacks.

Shortsword. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d6 + 5) piercing damage.

Heavy Crossbow. Ranged Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, range 100/400 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (1d10 + 5) piercing damage.

Bonus Actions

Rabbit Hop (3/Day). As a bonus action, the Lepus can jump 15 feet, without provoking opportunity attacks. They can use this trait only if their speed is greater than 0.

Mark Target (3/Day). As a bonus action, the Arbalest marks a target within 60 feet of it. The next attack made against the marked target has advantage.
