Amphibious. The dragon can breathe air and water, but has a vulnerability to cold and lightning damage while swimming/standing in water.
Conqueror of Black Dragons. The dragon has resistance to acid damage.
Corruptor of Elves. The dragon passively manipulates characters of the Elven race. Upon first seeing the dragon, such characters must succeed on a DC 18 WIS saving throw or join his side until they roll a successful saving throw on one of their subsequent turns. Elven minds freed from the dragon's manipulative clutches are free of his influence for the next 24 hours.
Multiattack. The dragon makes four attacks: one with its bite and three with its claws. His claw attacks can be exchanged for Toxic Spitfires while he is airborne.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 15 (2d10 + 4) piercing damage plus 7 (2d6) poison damage.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11(2d6 + 4) slashing damage.
Toxic Spitfire. Ranged Magical Attack: +7 to hit, range 60/120 ft., one target (+ 5ft around it). Hit: 14 (3d6+3) poison damage.
Poison Breath (Recharge 5–6). The dragon exhales poisonous gas in a 30-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 14 Constitution saving throw, taking 42 (12d6) poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Hit-and-Run Tactics. As a bonus action, Xanathos can fly up to an enemy that is at least 60ft away from him, regardless of available movement speed.
Dragon Drop. As a bonus action, Xanathos can perform one additional claw attack. If it lands, the target must succeed on a DC 16 STR saving throw or be grappled by the dragon's claws. Once his target is grappled, Xanathos can then use his action to drop a target from a devastating height, using a modified fall damage table. Falling creatures have one reaction to do anything they can to prevent the fall, and so do their allies. Once Xanathos performs this on a creature, said creature will have advantage the next time the dragon attempts to grapple it again, and the STR saving throw's DC will be lowered to 13.
Modified fall damage table for reference:
- 10ft - 1d8
- 20ft - 2d8
- 30ft - 3d8
- 40ft - 4d8
- 50ft - 5d8
- 60ft - 6d8
- 70ft - 7d8
- 80ft - 8d8
- 90ft - 9d8
- 100ft - 10d8
Tail Guard. As a reaction, Xanathos can push back an enemy attacker for 15ft if they fail on a DC 16 STR saving throw after they strike him. Said attacker is then also knocked prone, and must spend an action to get up.
Reworked Legendary Resistance. Upon failing a saving throw, Xanathos can choose to roll again, but must use the new result. This feature can be used three times per day.
Xanathos believes in his very own 'three principles of cunning combat'.
"Rebuke. Ambush. Enfeeble. Follow these principles and all shall turn to dust lest they surrender to your will." - Xanathos Axcurios
Rebuke. Whenever Xanathos is hit by a ranged attack, he can use this legendary action to retaliate against the assailant with a Toxic Spitfire attack rolled on disadvantage. This version of the attack does not deal AOE damage.
Ambush. Xanathos flies towards the creature that just ended its turn, hovering over it. Said creature will be bombarded from the skies unless it chooses to spend its reaction. If it does, it will have to make a DC 15 DEX saving throw to avoid a toxin bomb dropped by the dragon above it. A failed saving throw results in taking 11 (4d6) poison damage, whereas a successful saving throw avoids the damage completely.
Enfeeble. Xanathos casts the Ray of Enfeeblement spell (+7 to hit) on a creature that had previously attacked it, provided said creature has a STR score of at least 15. To rid itself of the spell's effect, a creature must succeed on a DC 16 CON saving throw on one of its subsequent turns.
Description
The most cunning and treacherous of true dragons, green dragons use misdirection and trickery to get the upper hand against their enemies. A green dragon is recognized by the crest that begins near its eyes and continues down its spine, reaching full height just behind the skull. Xanathos is a cunning predator, feared and respected by the Reaching Woods fauna. And yet, he is afraid. Afraid of rapidly occuring changes in his home city of Elturel, where Xanathos had once lived in as his High-Elf disguise.
