Description

Quartz

Are perhaps the most influenceable of the gemstone dragons, you will see how they take in emotions, expressions, lessons, and even diets of those around them  to how they are through youth and into adulthood to form their own personality. In saying this, every quarts dragon you find will be different depending on what they witnessed and how they were raised. But one thing remains the same throughout. A different life can change them entirely, just like environment.

A quartz dragon is covered in clear crystals, each having an appearance indicating a type of environment they are around and the emotions that have been around them. With spiked crystals jutting from its back down to the tip of its tail. It as three lines going down in rows that give a distinct appearance. It’s chin having crystals hanging from it as the face is covered in smooth slates of the crystal. The wings webbing chitteries with canking crystal upon opening and the belly is made of smooth slate and always more pale than the upper crystals.

Adaptive Body. No other dragon has the unique characteristics of a quartz dragons physiology. A quarts dragons attitude and body portray what they were surrounded by when growing up and can quickly change based on the areas it moves into. If an area is more negative and dark, the crystal on the Quartz dragons body will become smoky and difficult to see through as black clouds form within. If they are surrounded by a happy environment the quarts will stay clear and lively, as will the dragon itself, being very honest and playing pranks on others, or serving as a guard in exchange for food and companionship.

It is the living embodiment of “ treat others as you would treat yourself.” If you treat a young or wyrmling quartz dragon poorly, it will stockpile it and come to haunt you later in life when the dragon treats you and others the same way. They are the favored dragons to train and find young due to this. Though since the parents have noticed the other species trying to take their babies, they also have become extremely weary of other species. A chart will show the effect of what environment and treatment will do to a quartz dragons body.
Conductors and amplifiers. These dragons do not so much teach what the others do, instead they increase passions and strength, using themselves to lead those they deem as worthy to become greater through competitivity and stroking creativity and personal power. They inspire others to teach themselves.
They use this in arcane casting and places of great power from the past or future. They seek places like this out to make their dens and seek out strictly unique magical and divine relics and weaponry. A chart and what a specific kind of quartz dragon finds as their prized treasures.

Lair and Lair Actions

Lair Actions

On initiative 20 (losing on ties) the dragon takes a lair action to cause one of the following effects; The dragon can’t use the same effect two rounds in a row.

  • The crystals in the area are charges by any spells cast near them. A 5ft sphere around the crystals explodes after the spell, discharging the same type of damage as the spell cast. They must make a DC 13 Dexterity save or take 1d10 Force damage.
  • The prismatic colors spread over a 10ft x 50ft line. Anyone in this area must succeed on a DC15 Constitution save or be Blinded.
  • The dragon gets advantage on Wisdom and Intelligence saving throws until end of round.

Regional Effects

  • Stones are often covered with a few small bits of micha that can grow into full monoliths of Quartz within 6 miles that store elemental power that is cast near them. And after absorbing such power (3 spells) they must release it forming a 15ft sphere around the stone. Anyone caught in this area takes 3d6 Force damage.
  • Any magic items that enter 1 mile of the dragons den it can sense the exact point and motion of.
  • Random shimmering colors of prismatic origin randomly appear when the sun is striking grass and dirt in certain areas.

If the dragon dies these effects slowly fade over 1d10 days.
