Lair Actions

On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), Ungoliant takes a lair action to cause one of the following magical effects:

  • Unlight: Ungoliants surrounds the fight with a blinding darkness. If characters possess a Silmarill, it gives them 30 ft. radius area of light. If creature leaves area of light it becomes blinded no matter the senses. At the start of it's next turn and when it enters the darkness ut must make DC 24 Dexterity saving throw or it suffers following effects. Heart - Creature looses 2 points of Charisma and becomes restrained in webs of strangling gloom. Mind - The creature looses 2 points of Intelligence and starts to suffocate. Will - The creature looses 2 points of Wisdom and gains disadvantage on all saving throws. The creature can use it's action to break from the webs (DC 24 STR + 2 for every stage). The web can be destroyed with massive damage.
  • Ravenous Hunger: All Spawns gain advantage on attacks. If target of their attack has less then 50% hp the attack is considered to be critical. Any creature reduced to 0 hp by such attack is devoured and killed instantly.
  • Brood: Ungoliant spawns lesser spiders to aid her.

Regional Effects

The region containing Ungoliant's lair is warped by the creature’s blasphemous presence, creating the following magical effects:

  • Darknes can't be illuminated only by magical means. Darkvision only gives half of the usual range of sight.
