Ad Infinitum (Mythic Trait, Recharges after a Long Rest). When Unex is reduced to 0 hit points, it does not die or fall unconscious. Instead, its human form vanishes and it reemerges in a burst of temporal energy, regaining 400 hit points. An area around it in a 1-mile sphere becomes a Dead Magic zone for an instant as reality wraps. When this happens, it can immediately use its Chronal Surge action.
Additionally, while in its Mythic form, Unex gains the following benefits:
- It has advantage on all saving throws.
- Its Temporal Breath recharges automatically at the start of its turn.
- It can use its Shift Timeline legendary action without spending legendary actions.
Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If Unex fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.
Temporal Awareness. Unex can add its Intelligence modifier to initiative rolls and cannot be surprised.
Chronal Resistance. Unex is immune to effects that would alter its age or prevent its actions (e.g., time stop).
Magic Resistance. Unex has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Magic Weapons. Unex's weapon attacks are magical.
As the Ur-Dragon Made Me. Unex is immune to effects that would change his form or physically move, teleport, or banish him against his will.
To Battle Mankind. In his human form, Unex can only be damaged by attacks that were rerolled with Heroic Inspiration. While in this form, he can use his reaction to increase the effects of a spell that he sees being cast (DMs discretion).
Ad Eternum (Exotic Trait, 1/Year). If Unex would be reduced to 0 hit points in his Mythic form, it instead drops to 1 hit point and gains 200 temporary hit points. If it would die again, this effect repeats but it only gains 100 temp hp. If it would die again, this effect repeats but it only gains 50. Whenever it gains temporary hit points this way, it can change its stat block to that of any Greatwyrm or dragon god.
Multiattack (Mythic Form Only). Unex can use its Frightful Presence. It then makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its claws. One claw attack can be replaced by a tail attack, and any attack can be replaced with a Grapple or Shove attempt.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +18 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 32 (4d10 + 10) piercing damage plus 14 (4d6) force damage.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +18 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 22 (4d6 + 10) slashing damage.
Tail. Melee Weapon Attack: +18 to hit, reach 20 ft., one target. Hit: 26 (4d8 + 10) bludgeoning damage.
Frightful Presence. Each creature of Unex's choice within 120 ft. of it that is aware of it must succeed on a DC 24 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened for 1 minute. A frightened creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
Temporal Breath (Recharge 5–6). Unex exhales a beam of pure temporal energy in a 90-foot cone. Each creature in the area must make a DC 23 Dexterity saving throw, taking 72 (16d8) force damage and aging 1d10 years on a failed save or half as much damage and no aging on a successful one. A creature reduced to 0 hit points by this damage is erased from the timeline. It makes Charisma saving throws instead of it's normal death saving thows. On a success, it remains in the timeline and only then begins making death saves. Creatures restrained by Distort Reality or incapacitated by Temporal Lockdown instead age 1d100 years on a failed save.
Unex can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action can be used at a time, and only at the end of another creature's turn. Unex regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn. When Unex uses any legendary action, it can teleport up to 30 feet.
Detect. Unex makes a Wisdom (Perception) check.
Swipe. Unex makes one claw or tail attack.
Shift Timeline (Costs 2 Actions). Unex rewinds time for itself, regaining 40 hit points.
Distort Reality (Costs 3 Actions). Unex bends time and space, causing all creatures within 60 ft. to make a DC 23 Intelligence saving throw. On a failure, they take 36 (8d8) psychic damage and are restrained until the end of their next turn as reality fractures around them.
When Unex enters its Mythic form, it gains access to the following actions:
Chronal Surge (1/Day). Unex unleashes a wave of destabilizing temporal energy in a 120-foot radius. Each creature of the dragon's choice in this area must succeed on a DC 23 Intelligence saving throw or suffer one of the following effects (dragon’s choice):
- Temporal Lockdown. The creature is frozen in time and incapacitated for 1d4 rounds (the creature repeats the saving throw at the start of each of its turns).
- Temporal Decay. The creature ages 1d10 years and takes 55 (10d10) necrotic damage. If this aging would cause the creature’s lifespan to end, it dies. Creatures immune to aging are unaffected by this effect.
Fracture Timeline (Costs 2 Actions). Unex creates up to three overlapping realities in 30-foot cubes within 120 feet of itself. Each creature in one of these areas must make a DC 23 Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, they are restrained and take 36 (8d8) force damage. At the start of their next turn, they are teleported to an alternate timeline, reappearing in a random unoccupied space within 60 feet at the end of their turn.
Temporal Feedback (Costs 3 Actions). Unex alters the flow of time for all creatures within 120 feet of it. Each creature of its choice must make a DC 23 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the creature takes 44 (8d10) psychic damage and has its initiative count reduced by 5 (to a minimum of 1). This effect lasts until the end of the encounter.
Lair and Lair Actions
Instead of having a lair, Unex passively manipulates time in a massive area around itself.
Aura Actions
On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), Unex takes an aura action to cause one of the following effects; Unex can’t use the same effect two rounds in a row:
- Warp Time: All creatures within 120 ft. must succeed on a DC 23 Wisdom saving throw or have their speed halved until initiative count 20 of the next round.
- Temporal Echo: Unex summons a duplicate of itself from an alternate timeline that lasts until initiative count 20 of the next round. The echo acts on its own initiative.
- Time Rewind: Unex reverses time, undoing all damage taken by itself and its allies since the start of the last turn.
Aura Effects
The area around Unex is warped by its temporal magic, creating the following effects:
- Time flows inconsistently within 6 miles of Unex, causing creatures to lose or gain up to 1d4 hours of travel time while traveling near it.
- Creatures within 1 mile of Unex have disadvantage on Wisdom (Insight) checks as their perception of events becomes muddled.
- Every hour, a 10-foot-radius sphere randomly appears within 1 mile of Unex. Creatures entering this sphere must succeed on a DC 23 Constitution saving throw or age 1d6 years.
If Unex dies, these effects fade immediately.
