Claw. Melee Attack Roll: +3, reach 5 ft. Hit: 6 (2d4 + 1) Slashing damage.
Luring Song. The harpy sings a magical melody, which lasts until the harpy’s Concentration ends on it. Wisdom Saving Throw: DC 11, each Humanoid and Giant in a 300-foot Emanation originating from the harpy when the song starts. Failure: The target has the Charmed condition until the song ends and repeats the save at the end of each of its turns. While Charmed, the target has the Incapacitated condition and ignores the Luring Song of other harpies. If the target is more than 5 feet from the harpy, the target moves on its turn toward the harpy by the most direct route, trying to get within 5 feet of the harpy. It doesn’t avoid Opportunity Attacks; however, before moving into damaging terrain (such as lava or a pit) and whenever it takes damage from a source other than the harpy, the target repeats the save. Success: The target is immune to this harpy’s Luring Song for 24 hours.
I don't know why they removed multiattack. They didn't improve this in any way other than readability. I would have liked to see a DC 13 on the Luring Song, but as a DM it's an easy fix.
RIP 2014 Harpy art
Did they seriously feel the need to add a male harpy in the art? Who asked for male harpies?
Also, I wish they'd call these sirens and have actual harpies like the ones in Mythic Odysseys of Theros where they're just cruel and vicious.
why wouldn't there be a male harpy? also like, you can do that, there's nothing stopping you
Harpies have never been depicted as male in 2,700 years. That's why. And there's nothing stopping them from making minotaurs half chicken instead of half bull, but that doesn't mean doing so makes any sense or does any justice to the mythology. It's woke agenda, pure and simple, and pointless.
so? why does having a male harpy not make sense? how did the harpies before do justice to the mythology? in mythology, there were only 2 or 3 harpies and they didn't sing to lure in people to kill them, they kidnapped evildoers and took them to Tartarus, they're clearly supposed to be sirens like you've said. All that when sirens have been depicted as male in ancient art, hell, sirens were sometimes described as being women with the chests and heads of sparrows, or tiny birds with the face of a woman and nothing else, or even a woman with just bird legs and no other bird features, so why is this a problem for you? also, just because there's a single male harpy doesn't mean you have to use it, that's the entire point of D&D, the rules are just suggestions that you build off of, you're complaining about something optional that isn't even anything worth complaining about in the first place
After researching it for a bit, there are male harpies in DND lore, they just look so similar to the females that it's near impossible to tell the difference, the only thing they changed is that they have facial hair in the art
