Traits

Acidic Blood. Whenever Xarakh'keth is hit all creatures within 15ft cone of her must make a Dexterity saving throw or they take (6d8) Acid Damage or half as much on a successful save (DC 19)

Actions

Multiattack. Xarakh'keth can make four attacks. Either with its Bite or Body Slam, or a combination of both. Xarakh'keth can only use Body Slam once per turn.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (6d6 + 8) slashing damage plus (3d6) acid damage. If the target is a large or smaller creature, Xarakh'keth can grapple the creature (escape DC 19). Until this grapple ends, the Colossus Ankheg Matriarch can bite only the grappled creature and has advantage on attack rolls to do so.

Body Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +12 to hit, reach 30ft. line (25ft wide), multiple targets. Hit: (10d8 + 10) Bludgeoning damage. If the target is a large or smaller creature, it must make a (DC 18) Dexterity save, or is knocked prone.

Swallow. Xarakh'keth Swallows a creature it has grappled with its bite attack. If the target is a Large or smaller creature, it must succeed on a DC 20 Strength saving throw or be swallowed by Xarakh'keth. A swallowed creature is blinded and restrained, has total cover against attacks and other effects outside of Xarakh'keth, the swallowed creature takes (8d8) acid damage at the start of each of the Xarakh'keth turns.
If the Colossus Ankheg Matriarch takes 30 damage or more on a single turn from a creature inside it, the Colossus Ankheg Matriarch must succeed on a (DC 21) Constitution saving throw at the end of that turn or regurgitate all swallowed creatures, which fall prone in a space within 15 feet of the Xarakh'keth. If the Xarakh'keth dies, a swallowed creature is no longer restrained by it and can escape from the corpse by using 20 feet of movement, exiting prone.

Acid spray (recharge 5-6). Xarakh'keth spits acid in 3 lines that are 60 feet long and 5 feet wide, provided that it has no creature grappled. Each creature in that line must make a DC 20 Dexterity saving throw, taking (12d8) acid damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Reactions

Opportunity Attack. The Colossus Ankheg Matriarch can make one bite attack without grappling.

Acidic Eruption. When the Xarakh'keth dies it explodes and sprays all creatures within 20ft with acid. All creatures must make a (DC 18) Dexterity saving throw or take (4d6) Acid Damage.

Legendary Actions

Xarakh'keth can take 5 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The Ankheg regains spent legendary actions at the start of (1d4) of its turns.

Call the hive (costs 2 actions). Xarakh'keth calls forth (2d4) Ankhegs to the battle appearing within 30 feet of it.

Burrow (Costs 1 Action). Xarakh'keth burrows underground and moves its burrow speed, this movement does not provoke opportunity attacks.

Erupt (Costs 1 Action). Xarakh'keth bursts out from underground each creature within 10 feet of her must make a DC 20 Dexterity saving throw, on a Success the creature can move to an unoccupied space more than 15 feet away from Xarakh'keth. On a failure, the creature is moved to an Unoccupied space more than 15 feet away from her, is knocked prone and takes (4d6) bludgeoning damage. Creatures standing above the space have disadvantage on the saving throw.

Description

Xarakh'keth, the Grand Burrower, is a Colossus Ankheg Matriarch. She is considered to be the largest living specimen, although there are rumors of people finding larger chitin sheds of her kind. She burrows deeper underneath the ground, forming large tunnels large enough for any giant to comfortably stand in, and for any young dragon to fly in. Normal Ankhegs are the bane of farmers whose grazing livestock are easy prey for these monsters, however, Xarakh'keth is known for being the destroyer of small isolated towns/settlements because she can devour them in very little time. She only surfaces every 30-40 years to eat, and when she does, there are tell-tale signs. Normally there are random sinkholes in stable ground close to small towns/settelments. When travelers see this, they alert the people that live nearby. After this everyone flees to larger cities for refuge. The settlers leave all their food and live stalk, so that Xarakh'keth doesn't go for another town. Xarakh'keth prefers to hunt alone, but the normal Ankhegs use her tunnels to gather. Small Ankhegs make nests that can be challenging to wipe out unless the monsters’ tunnels are cleared out and their eggs destroyed. Since Xarakh'keth burrows around towns, creating sinkholes, normal Ankhegs use them to then continue attacking that settlement. Overall, while Xarakh'keth is gone many believe her to be going around the globe visiting other continents. Although many people do not talk about her, there are times when random villages will disappear from other continents, almost as if they were never there.
