Cunning Action. On each of her turns, Zazi can use a bonus action to take the Dash, Disengage, or Hide action.
Fast Hands. Zazi can use a bonus action to make a Dexterity (Sleight of Hand) check, use her thieves’ tools to disarm a trap or pick a lock, or use an object.
Feline Agility. When Zazi moves on her turn in combat, she can double her speed until the end of the turn. Once she uses this trait, she can’t use it again until she moves 0 feet on one of her turns.
Evasion. If Zazi is subjected to an effect that allows her to make a Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, she instead takes no damage if she succeeds on the saving throw, and only half damage if she fails.
Multiattack. Zazi makes two Shortsword attacks.
Shortsword (Melee). Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d6 + 4) piercing damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution saving throw or take 7 (2d6) poison damage.
Shortsword (Melee with Sneak Attack). If Zazi has advantage on the attack roll or if the target is within 5 feet of an ally of Zazi’s that isn’t incapacitated, she deals an extra 10 (3d6) damage.
Description
Zazi is a Tabaxi rogue who grew up alongside the Ashyn in the harshest parts of the city. While the Ashyn found an escape through education and magic, Zazi found a family in the criminal underworld, becoming an exceptionally skilled thief and leader of the Grave Dogs. Their relationship is complicated by a mixture of residual affection and deep-seated bitterness over the disparity of their new lives. Zazi’s greatest weakness is her pride and her desperate need to prove that she, too, can succeed outside the slums, even if it’s through crime.
Goals and Tactics
Primary Goal: Escape and Deliver. Zazi’s main goal is not to kill but complete the exchange and settle her debts. She will use the Ashyn’s emotional attachment against them.
Tactics. Zazi is a slippery boss. She uses her Bonus Actions (Cunning Action and Fast Hands) every round to Disengage after an attack, hide behind cover, or use a minor object (like throwing dust in an eye) to gain Sneak Attack advantage on her next turn. She focuses on mobility and dealing high burst damage to a vulnerable target, using the Scrappers as meat shields. She will use Feline Agility to get across the room and escape if reduced to half HP.
Encounter Groups:
The Grave Dogs Crew: Zazi Murwerk is accompanied by Grinder and 5 Grave Dogs.
The Grave Dogs use Pack Tactics to gang up on the tank or create flanking opportunities for Zazi. The Grave Dogs will not retreat unless Zazi does.
