Magical Sense. The Wood-wrought Sentinel can sense all magical effects (as if it was affected by Detect Magic) within 90 ft. of it.
Unstoppable. The Wood-wrought Sentinel is not affected by Difficult Terrain.
Multiattack. The Wood-Wrought Sentinel makes any combination of two Slam attacks or Vine (bonus) actions.
Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 10 ft., 1 target. Hit: 15 (2d10 + 4) Bludgeoning damage. The target must succeed on a DC 16 Strength or Dexterity saving throw or be knocked Prone.
Vines. The Wood-Wrought Sentinel is held together by several magically-enhanced vines that can act on their own. When you use this ability, choose one of the following effects:
Grasping Vine. A Vine shoots out from the Wood-wrought Sentinel and entangles something. Choose one creature or object within 60 ft. of the Wood-wrought Sentinel. The target must succeed on a DC 16 Acrobatics check or be Grappled and Restrained by the Wood-wrought Sentinel. Objects automatically fail this save. The Wood-wrought Sentinel can only have up to 3 characters or objects Grappled in this way.
Thorn Growth. The Wood-wrought Sentinel's vines grow poisonous thorns. Any character Grappled by the Wood-wrought Sentinel takes 7 (2d6) Piercing damage and 10 (3d6) Poison damage.
Throw (Requires a grappled creature or object). Ranged Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, range 30/60 ft. from the grappled creature or object, 1 target. Hit: 15 (2d10 + 4) Bludgeoning damage. The target must succeed on a DC 16 Strength Saving throw or be knocked Prone. The grappled creature or object used to make this attack lands in the closest unoccupied space to the target. If a creature was thrown, they also suffer all effects of the attack, and they are automatically considered hit by it.
Adaptive Defense. When the Wood-wrought Sentinel takes 30 or more damage from a single attack, it gains resistance to the damage type of the attack until the end of its next turn. Vulnerability to the damage type results in taking normal damage instead, and Resistance to the damage type becomes Immunity to it.
Description
Usually created by powerful Fey, Artificers, Druids, or any combination of the above, Wood-Wrought Sentinels are huge golems created to defend forests or other woodland areas important to their creators. Composed of several large hand-carved wooden parts and held together by magical vines, Wood-Wrought Sentinels are often inscribed with runes granting them the ability to identify nearby sources of magic and adapt to incoming damage. As their primary function is the defense of their environment, Wood-Wrought Sentinels will usually attack unknown creatures, especially ones that magical effects are present on, on sight unless otherwise directed by their creators.
