Greetings Beyonders!
We're happy to announce an initial release of the long-awaited Content Management feature!
After enabling content sharing for a campaign, a campaign DM can access the new content management page. They will see the content management button here:
The content management page will display a list of all licensed sources available to your campaign from all current players and the DM. Currently, free sources, like Basic Rules, will always be available to all users and cannot be toggled off.
The DM is the only user that can control access to sources for that campaign, though users may view the page to see what content has been blocked.
The DM will never be prevented from accessing a source that has been toggled off, nor will the user who actually purchased the source. If a user has access to a source through another campaign, they will still be able to access that source.
Once a source is toggled off, players in your campaign will no longer be able to access the compendium part of the source or the details page of any element from that source. Instead, they will see an access denied page, as shown here:
However, elements from the source are still currently available in the character builder, character sheet, and encounter builder. Restricting access in those tools will be coming in a future iteration.
Thank you so much to all our users who completed our survey and gave us feedback about this feature! Your responses helped us build this first iteration and also to prioritize what features need to come next. We learned that restricting access to compendium content was the most important aspect, that more fine grained control over items should come next, and that, lastly, we need to improve control around homebrew content.
And as always, happy dragon slaying!
awesome, thank you for this new feature, possible tip for future update:
make filters to distinct between source book and adventure, then be able to enable or disable the entire selection
Thank you for this update. Now I would like the ability to block/share certain chapters. I care about this much more than character options. I can police character options when I see the characters but I want my players to read the Waterdeep Enchiridion while not being able to access the adventure portion and the DM map.
I wish the books were separated into Player and GM content, especially the adventures. I would like to be able to allow players access to the backgrounds from Saltmarsh, but not to the monsters and encounters.
According to what the developers said in this very post, they should be able to do that.
You mean as a later addition - currently there is no way to allow access to backgrounds from an adventure (both in the builder and in the compendium) while not allowing access to the adventure and monsters and magic items.
But your players can see the character options in the character builder, even if you block the adventure material. So they still have a way to access them.
Having access to it in the character builder is very good when you decided that is what you are going with, but it's not really useful to have an overview of your options to decide what you want to go with.
I'm not seeing this on my campaign at all?
You are not alone. Idk where it is
I am overly excited by this new feature; thank you very much!
What would be more useful than blocking book content is to block UA outright. If we can block XGtE and MToF, UA should be an easy extension.
You can block the compendium part of XGtE and MToF, not the character options. Since UA is free, this cannot be applied under the current system.
Is the option to share purchased campaign content only available at the Master tier? I have a Hero tier subscription and even after signing out and signing into my account, I do not see the ability to share content when I review the campaigns I have created as DM for my players.
Yes, the content sharing feature is on;y available to the Master Tier subscriptions.
Thanks!
Dave
When I look at my campaign page, I don't see the Content Management option.
I have the Master Tier subscription, and have purchased most of the source books and a few of the modules.
You have to enable content sharing first. And the Master Tier subscription currently only allows content sharing on up to three campaigns.
All good. Turns out that my subscription lapsed a week ago.
Fixed. Content Management Option is there.
I had this happen as well—currently it seems like subscriptions will lapse without any notification. Might be good to add notification of some sort in order to encourage people to give you more money and keep the site going!
I haven't tried this yet for character options but, as a suggestion, concise content can always be copied to the public notes section of the campaign where the players can see it. Currently I use this for all sorts of rules that aren't easy to find and are often needed at a moments notice.
Uh, Content sharing has vanished from ALL of my campaigns.
