During D&D’s 50th anniversary, we celebrated the most important part of our history, our fans. We are thankful for all 85 million of you worldwide.
Events We Met You At
D&D welcomed 25,000 fans to the table in play events held at Gen Con, PAX West, Gary Con, and elsewhere. In 2024, 10,000 new players gathered around the table for the first time at these events.
Ways That You Surprised Us
With the 2024 Player’s Handbook, we brought new and revised species, feats, spells, magic items, and weapon mastery properties to 19 million users on D&D Beyond.
You created more than 3.6 million characters using the 2024 core rules. And while it isn’t a contest, the most popular species were the human and the elf. The most popular classes were the Fighter followed by the Rogue.
Meanwhile, more than 1.3 million maps were used in our virtual tabletop (VTT). Seventy-one percent of those were uploaded.
Collabs None of Us Can Stop Talking About
In 2024, we partnered with some of our favorite brands to bring fans new ways to level up their fandom. Koi brought shoes and bags, Dragon’s Milk gave fans ages 21 and up something to quench their thirst, and we celebrated pride with Progress Pride dice.
Fans lined up to watch D&D on stage in the off-Broadway show The Twenty-Sided Tavern while millions tuned in to watch Secret Level on Prime Video. Collectors clamored to build the LEGO Ideas Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale set and pick up the Converse x D&D collection.
Things We Are Bringing You in 2025
On February 18, 2025, we close out our 50th anniversary with the 2024 Monster Manual. Get ready for over 500 monsters, including revised classics like the gelatinous cube and beholder, plus over 85 brand-new monsters illustrated in glorious detail.
Events like Universal’s Fan Fest Nights and Twenty-Sided Tavern will bring fans even closer together with unforgettable experiences.
2025 will also have some surprises that we cannot wait to tell you more about. Until then, thank you for an amazing 2024 and for making the last 50 years memorable. Cheers to the next 50!
Yay! Can’t believe it’s over! Always a good time (well, most of the time, but I try to remain as positive as possible in these, cause I know the people doing work on this site and the articles are amazing people and not the ones doing all the things people hate about WOTC)
Thank you guys for an awesome year, can’t wait for the monster manual!
So, what adventures do we think are gonna get updated for 2024 D&D first?
Oh yeah! First!
But when is sigil coming out? D&D beyond said it would be coming out this fall but it is now winter and we have not gotten it.
2024 - A toast to another year of imagination fueled by the new rule-set giving us new quirks to play with, I mean character ideas, so many character & thus story ideas. - Like the Racoon Master said, lets finish the year positive.
Personally, one of the things I like about 5.24 NOT being an Edition is that I can keep using Adventures and not need an update.
My understanding is Sigil is out, to chosen testers. It probably wont be available to general play for some time.
Fingers crossed you guys finally bring back Dark Sun. All I wanna know is, who's comin' with me?
Well, One of them, the one most likely to read this actually could use a lot of oversight.
Sigil is out. Very rough from what I understand. But the testers are there to note that.
Someone answer this question please
This year has been great, clearly showing why D&D is the industry leader. I love the new books, and I'm really looking forward to the new MM.
Dark Sun would be cool!
To 2024- a great year of adventuring! NERDS FOREVER!
