Dungeons & Dragons will be returning to Gen Con 2025 in a big way, and with that, there will be changes to where you’ll find us!
The majority of D&D activities will occur at Lucas Oil Stadium. This includes the following:
- All play from Baldman Games (including Legends of Greyhawk), except learn-to-play demos
- D&D experiential activities
- Other activities we’re not ready to announce yet!
The Indiana Convention Center will still host D&D learn-to-play demos in the Event Hall.
We realize this is a big change for those who spend time with Wizards of the Coast and Baldman Games at Gen Con, and we wanted to get this information out before housing opens up for Gen Con on Sunday, February 23 at 12 noon Eastern / 9 am Pacific. Head to Gen Con’s website for more information.
We’re so excited to be heading back to Indy and can’t wait to share more as we get closer to the show!
Too late for those of us who stay at the JW Marriott primarily to play D&D and already have our rooms. Not really happy about this.
Is this a permanent change, or do you intend to move D&D around?
Do we know where in the stadium?
Folks on the Baldman Games Discord server are guessing some combination of the former True Dungeon space and perhaps some of the club suites. The Baldman himself said "...not on the field, in our own space. More info as we get closer to the event."
Thanks for that info. I don't play a ton of D&D anymore but I know a lot of folks will be upset by this move, especially if they already booked rooms with the assumption they'd be in the JW again.
One block away from the Convention Center.
I know where the stadium is in relation to the ICC. I was asking where *in* the stadium. It has multiple levels and I was asking if we knew specifically where in the stadium.
How would you already have hotel if the housing lottery hasn't happened yet? Can you book JW outside of it or is this vendor thing?
The stadium is a great spot and very easy to get to. Lots of space to spread out in. Good move to start bringing more of D&D back to GenCon.
Only VIG have their rooms for GenCon (i.e. a very small number of GenCon ticket holders so far since they get first pick of hotel rooms). The majority of us can start booking hotels on the 23rd and don't have the luxury of guaranteed choice each year. At this point I consider Lucas Oil stadium fully a part of the con so I don't see an issue with it being held there. I look forward to visiting that area since they introduced it a few years back.
I'm happy with this move. Going out of my way to the JW was a pain. Only the few lucky VIGs and lottery "winners" had easy access to it before, now anyone at the Con-proper will only be a short walk away for their games (plus its near the food trucks!)
Can't those who already have rooms at the JW switch to a different hotel any time? There's a $50 fee, but it's not that much compared to what it costs to get VIG access in the first place. If done before the 23rd they'll still have way more to pick from than the rest of us.
It doesn't cost anything to modify your room, only to cancel.
Out of block hotel booking or VIG. VIG got to pick hotels on Feb, 5th.
Even better!
Having played both in the JW, and in the Stadium, I would much prefer the Stadium - especially if they open up more of the club level. Playing in a suite is the closest thing to a home game.
I've run games in the suites the last two years. Very much like a home game, but definitely isolated.
You DO realize YOU can easily MOVE to the STADIUM via the tram or even the walkway? No need to be sour about it. The stadium has MANY suites that were opened last year for gaming, and this is actually a BRILLIANT move since the majority of gaming takes place IN there anyhow.
I am looking to play a bunch of Adventurers League legal games this year! Are there a bunch of AL approved games? How about playing games the day before the Con starts?
