The public beta for digital dice launched yesterday on D&D Beyond, and thousands of fans have already rolled millions of times to see that first "20" land on their screens.
The D&D Beyond team has taken the task seriously of helping people across the world play games and connect with one another during the unprecedented times of this pandemic. Knowing that we can bring even the smallest amount of joy in the midst our global situation provides a real sense of purpose, and we appreciate the reports of happiness brought about by these pixels bouncing across your character sheets more than you know.
Starting today, you will be able to unlock new dice sets for your collection, including the colorful 'Pigment Pack' and a fully-animated 'Mythic Set.' You can check out both in the Marketplace. There will be plenty more where they came from in the days ahead.
We are also acutely aware of recent events that call into stark focus the systemic racial injustice that continues to exist in the world. We understand that messaging from companies often lands hollow without action, and we do not wish to remain silent in the face of this. For the next week (through June 9th), D&D Beyond will donate 50% of all proceeds from digital dice sets to the Black Lives Matter movement.
We stand in solidarity with the Black community against racism, discrimination, and senseless acts of violence.
Cool dice for an amazing cause
Thank you for being an awesome team, for speaking out, and helping a just cause.
Only half?
So glad you're supporting this cause! Makes me proud to be on this site <3
A good cause, thank you DnD beyond for helping put a stop to this injustice, raising awareness for this cause is what everyone should do
Most companies arent donating at all. Generic statement on their part and no donation. Fandom is at least donating something which is more then enough honestly.
Nothing is more insulting and tone deaf then the NFL releasing a statement of support. GTFO.
Thank you for supporting BLM!
Cool that you’re doing them for a cause this round.
Having said that, I hope you’ll also be including dice a preorder bonuses in the future. :)
Wording on things like this is sometimes tough, but the idea is with dice sales this week, we are donating our profits after our costs are paid. I assure you, the intent is to get as much money as we can quickly to those that need it.
When I heard about D&D Beyond adding digital dice, I thought, "Man, they are going to make a ton of money on this concept." When I saw this, it genuinely made me happy. Amazing way to kick off the extra dice set purchases. And for a great cause. Just awesome!
Awesome show of support for a great cause. These dice are also insanely cool.
In the future, you guys should just create a dice set that ALL PROFITS will go to the/a cause.
But it's a start.
Thanks so much. Wish I was an adult and had money to spend as I definitely would!
I agree. With all of it, and the last bit.
As a DM, dndbeyond only really provides me with one thing: it makes my players experience far easier.
After buying all the core books and buying a Master subscription, I'm frustrated that this is a feature you've chosen to put effort into over many other requests and needs from the primary base of your service. I get you need to make additional revenue and the player side need things to buy, but I feel more held hostage by this product than I feel benefited by it.
Give me ANY tool that makes DMing easier!
Timing of roll outs matter. $15 dice and you're donating half of it to BLM is neat, but you've got too many irons in the fire. Finish something valuable before you pick your next project.
Cool dice man/good cause 2
Thank you!
Thank you for supporting such a great cause.
(P.S. dice look amazing)
Awesome, as always. I purchased all the things. :-)
Love that you're standing up for the cause but $15 for digital dice, that you can only use when subscribing anyways, is an insane price. I'd pick these up in a heartbeat if they were in the $5 range and I'm sure many others feel the same.
The team at DNDBeyond continues to amaze me. History is being written right now. Thank you for amplifying the voices of those who are marginalized in our society.
