Homebrew BloodBorn Species Details

Cyatra stood perfectly still, overlooking the battlefield before her. Strewn all around were the bodies of friend and foe alike, distinguishable only by their armor, their bodies burnt beyond recognition. Caelum, her Queen, stood next to her, gazing across the scorched earth. 

"This is what happens when my kind try to rule yours." Caelum's voice was quiet, but clear. "Only death and destruction come from the tyranny the Opposition would impose upon all life. A wise ruler would have respected the wisdom of 'lesser' beings, but Shaarkoth believed himself to be above all others. It was that belief that led to his downfall. This," she gestured to the field of the dead "is, ultimately, my fault."

Her voice was filled with bitterness as she observed the destruction wrought by her kin. On instinct, Cyatra gently embraced her, feeling the biting cold from within Caelum soften a bit at her touch.

"You are my Queen, Caelum. No matter whether you were the cause of this, or some other dragon, I would not hold it against you. That may be my blood speaking, but I will follow you, wherever you go, even in the darkest of nights." Cyatra whispered.

The ancient silver dragon hesitantly sunk into the BloodBorn's embrace, burying her head in Cyatra's blood-soaked hair. 

Born of dragons' blood, as their name proclaims, the BloodBorn are shaped by the mystical Gem Dragons out of other draconic blood, made to be the ultimate servants. Some BloodBorn are knowing servants to their draconic masters, while others aren't even aware of their origins. No matter how much they know about themselves, they are all intensely loyal to the dragons whose blood runs through their veins; to break that connection would be to kill them.

Proud Servitors of Dragons

BloodBorn look very much like any other humanoid, having been created from a humanoid body. They can look like any other humanoid, but they are often created to resemble humans or elves. The one generally uniform thing about them is that they are the epitome of fitness, being both strong and graceful. They also sometimes manifest small scales on various parts of their bodies, although they are usually not enough to give away the existence of BloodBorn; the scales can usually be explained away as some manifestation of dragonborn in their ancestry.

The blood of the particular type of dragon that created them can occasionally cause them to manifest some traits reminiscent of that dragon. BloodBorn are naturally resistant to the element most prominently displayed by their draconic master. BloodBorn can also have minor physical features remarkably similar to that dragon, as well. For example, the BloodBorn of the Silver Queen Caelum Argenti sometimes display silver hair, and the BloodBorn of the crystal dragon S'targ often have multi-faceted eyes.

BloodBorn Names

BloodBorn tend to use the names of the Humanoid species they were created as, but those who were raised by more traditional dragons have draconic names. Their "clan" names come from the dragon whom they serve.

Ability Score Increase

Age

BloodBorn grow at the same rate as the race they resemble, but can often live to be hundreds of years old.

Size

BloodBorn are the same size and weight as the race they resemble, albeit a rather fit example. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 35 feet.
