Homebrew Zerglarin Species Details
The descendants of Zergs and Man.
Zerglarin resemble a well flowing half Zergling, half humanoid creature. Their bodies vary greatly, being covered with chitin in some areas, and skin in others. They can be nearly completely covered in chitin, or have hardly any at all. Their faces can look like a Zerglings with two great horns protruding forward where their ears would normally be with large sharp teeth, or be as graceful and beautiful as any human with normal hair. They have four sets of wings which grow from their backs. They usually look like a grasshoppers wings, but can be as beautiful as a butterflies. Part of what makes these creatures so wonderful is their ability to change how they look. When they wish too, they can imagine an image of themselves resembling more a human, or resembling more of a Zerg. When they want they can conjure a chrysalis around them which will encase them for at most a week. Once they are ready, they emerge looking different. They can only have one particular face of Zergling, or human however (though I ought to mention that while their Zergling faces are quite terrifying, their human faces are usually very beautiful). They can't change that, just how much they switch from one to the other.
Peaceful and Powerful.
They are generally quite powerful, agile, and adaptable. They get used to new things easily, and can travers most terrains easily. They love their Zerg relatives, and they love their human relatives. When the two come into conflict however, they will usually fight alongside whichever side they like to appear as.
Languages and Names.
Zerglarin can speak Zerg, common, and one other language of your choice. Zerglarin often times have up to four names. A first and last name in Zerg, and a First and last in common. Here are some examples of a Zerglarin's Zerg names. Cerab, Garratt, Orsafis, Maldri (Male). Agen, Sona, Para, Teern (female). And here are some Zerglarin common names. Brock, Hadrian, Jim, (Male), Sarah, May, Lynn (female), Sting, Vrace, Zerabrim, Tregule (Surnames)
Fanatical groups.
Certain clans and types of Zerglarin worship the long gone "Queen of Blades". They believe that she will one day return and reek havoc on the world and all those who have forgotten their ways.
Life.
Zerglarin are looked up to in Zerg swarms as creatures of power and higher intelligence. They are usually excepted in Human culture. Usually the ones that prefer to have a human faces do better. Some Zerglarin like to live among one of its cousins for the greater part of their lives. On average, a Zerglarin will spend equal parts of its life learning from the two different lifestyles. A Zerglarin can only be born from Zerglarin parents, or be transformed from a Human into a Zerglarin by another Zerglarin. When two Zerglarin parents have offspring, the infant resembles a regular human baby. As the infant grows its carapace begins to form. Usually capping its forearms, knees, shins, and sometimes its back and chest. By the time the infant is three years old its four wings will have formed, and it can fly around for short bursts. By the time they reach about ten years old, their bodies have developed enough to change into more human, or more Zerg. If the Zerglarin does not decide to change its form until fully grown, its body will continue to grow until it reaches full size. Usually about 6ft to 6 1/2 ft tall in males, and 5ft to 5 1/2 ft in females. Their bodies will be well muscled with or without exercise, and their carapace will have hardened into a protective armor. It will grow spikes which can be clipped, trimmed, or filed down. This process of grooming only hurts as much as clipping ones nails, or shaving their hair. They have straight, upright postures with dark carapace growing from usually tan or white skin. Their hair is typically dark, ranging from black to brown. Their eyes are usually yellow, orange or red, and reflect light like a cats. They are physically more powerful than a human of the same stature, and are as quick in thought as an elf. They don't particularly like other races like goblins or orcs. They find them to be more like animals than even Zerg. If spent long enough learning to master the art of shape shifting, a Zerglarin can use an innate magical ability that is hard learned to shapeshift into a Zergling. Once this skill has been mastered they can transform themselves (with a puff of smoke) into a Zergling.
Zerglarin Traits
