Homebrew Canis Species Details
The Canis are first and foremost pack animals and therefore extremely sociable. Though a few "lone wolf" Canis do exist they are extremely rare. The Canis live in large families and packs of similarly aligned Canis because of the way their communities are set up they will often call their entire tribe their family. Due to this, they can be known to call their closest friends outside of the tribe their family as well. Canis will spend their younger years learning skills to be sent into the world when they are fully grown at age 9. They will spend the next 16 years on their own making their way in the world and at 25 they will return to the tribe to continue the cycle. Some Canis will refuse this having found their place in the world. The Canis only have one true enemy, the Tabaxi. Though they rarely turn to violence they seem to have a common prejudice toward Tabaxi and the Tabaxi possess the same. Neither race knows where it came from or the reason that it still persists but several Canis and Tabaxi have overcome this prejudice.
Age Canis grow very quickly reaching full maturity at age 9, and living up to 40 years.
Alignment Due to their family-oriented nature they are extremely loyal to their bonds causing them to tend towards Lawful Good.
Size Though their height vastly depends on their ancestry and location they can range anywhere between 4 feet and 6 Feet.
Languages They speak Common but the Canis do have their own language consisting of barks, growls, and yips though it does not have a written form.

Posted Jan 28, 2020Canis names are similar to that of tabaxi names in source but follow a simple pattern.
First a personal name that describes what their role was within their pack. Second is a name that relates them back to the pack. Third is the pack name.
For example: Fang of the Wall of the Lake of Sand Pack, Storm of the King of the Endless Forest Pack, and Chord of Pain of the Long Fjord Pack
First the personal name Fang implying a weapon or an attack. Wall meaning the wall guard of a location/settlement/kingdom. Last the Lake of Sand Pack is the origin. So the character is some sort of melee fighter that acted as a wall guard for the Lake of Sand Pack.
The personal name Storm may imply electricity or violent weather. King might be a connection to a royal family. Then the Endless Forest Pack.
The personal name Chord suggests some sort of musically inclined canis. Pain might mean a torturer or something of the likes. Then the Long Fjord Pack.
