Homebrew Aos Si Species Details

Aos Si are a magical people of otherworldly grace and beauty, at least as long as they choose to be. They live in the Feywild and very rarely choose to leave it. They hate to be bored more than anything so they seek any form of entertainment they can find.

Duality of Appearance

Aos Si have two forms, though they are often more comfortable in one than the other. The form they spend most of their time in reflects the kind and playful side of their personality. They are often almost childlike in appearance with large bright eyes and round faces. Their bodies are small and graceful and they have jewel-toned insect wings sprouting from their back. They can be any of an array of vibrant colors.

Their other for, however, reflects the dangerous and vengeful side of their personality. They are larger, with long spindly limbs and dark colors. Their teeth are pointed and crooked and their skin looks almost dead. Most Aos Si choose to keep this form hidden until they are truly angry, but some revel in the fear they inspire in those around them so they choose to remain in this form at all times.

Timelessly Young

Aos Si can live well over 1000 years, but this doesn't change their high-spirited way of life. Their definition of fun can be as harmless as an upbeat dance, or as cruel as a prank that ends in death. They rarely allow consequences to stop their actions and many other races consider them to be dangerously immature. Despite this fact, they have almost endless wisdom from their long lives belied by their actions.

Cunning Wordsmiths

Aos Si have very few true limitations, but their biggest is that they are unable to lie. They make up for this by spinning words and telling half-truths to get their point across without tipping their hand. Their society is made up of deals and debts incurred by losing battles of wits. Only the bravest people will make a deal with one of the Aos Si, and even then they often lose.

Accustomed to twilit forests and the night sky, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
