Homebrew Cirvan Species Details
Cirvans are the product of elven lineage, sporting eccentric personalities and long, tufted tails. Their fixations allow them to take specialized roles in adventuring parties. Cirvans are curious, eccentric people. Their sparse and thinly spread population disallows them from a central culture, but they blend quite nicely with the local populace. Save for their general eccentricity, they are quite normal and well-adjusted to wherever they may reside.
Tailed and Typical
Cirvans are rather simple from a physiological perspective. Their features are comparable to humans, ranging from 5 to 6 feet in height. Their ears remain consistent with their elven heritage and identical in size and shape. Their defining features are the long, tufted tails that are completely hairless, save for the end. These tails are quite telling of their owner's emotions and are highly dexterous and prehensile. They tend to be around 4 feet long, but the longest recorded has been 5.7 feet long.
Cirvan skin tones consist of the tones often seen in humans. Their hair can be almost any color in the visible spectrum but is typically seen in darker colors. It's also been noted that Cirvan hair has a very similar aroma to flowers; the hair on their heads and tails can have two distinct scents. Like their elven precursors, Cirvans possess no facial and little body hair. It should also be mentioned that Cirvans possess star-shaped irises, although very few manage to observe a Cirvan sitting still long enough to notice this.
Short and Flavorful
Cirvans have an almost pitiful lifespan compared to their Elven predecessors. The average Cirvan lifespan is about 40 years old. This is largely due to the fact that most Cirvans fall under the High Strung classification. High Strung Cirvans tend to suffer premature deaths due to their highly dangerous and risky behavior. Cirvans of the other two classifications typically have the same lifespans as most humans.
Communal Lifestyle
Having no centralized culture or homogenous nations of their own, Cirvans typically blend well with their communities. Their typically friendly attitudes and outgoing demeanor make them quite charming to be around. Cirvans with particular skills and obsessions are often sought after by nobility, companies, and even mercenaries. Cirvans are generally well-liked among their communities. In adventuring parties, they tend to rely on their teammates to keep them in check, while their skills are heavily relied upon.
Constant Pursuit
Cirvans possess a unique psychological obsession with a specific concept, object, skill, activity, or countless other things. These obsessions can be controlled through support systems, therapeutic counseling, or other means. However, the vast majority of Cirvans allow their fixations to go unchecked.
OBSESSIVE TO A FAULT
Cirvans can possess a wide variety of obsessions, ranging from concepts, objects, skills, activities, and more. Cirvans typically fall into three categories, but it should not be used as a reference- Cirvans are impossibly complex, and many have dedicated their entire lives to finding the root of their psychological obsessions.
High-Strung: These Cirvans are highly active, excitable, and carefree. Their obsessions revolve around fun, excitement, danger, or risk. While their rash nature may prove to hinder self-preservation or decision making, they’re much more willing to put themselves into danger if it means satisfying themselves. It should be noted that they aren’t completely incapable of self control- rather, they have a higher tendency to engage in more stimulating activities.
Reclused: These Cirvans are obsessed with more material matters. Books, knowledge, art, flora, the list goes on. This fixation on physical objects lead many to recluse inside personal abodes, surrounded by hoards of artwork, vast libraries, greenhouses, gardens, or castles.
Well-Rounded: These Cirvans have controlled, or outright eliminated their obsessive tendencies. They are completely identical to any other person, mentally.
