Homebrew Treånd Species Details
Do you see that forest over there, boy? It's stood for a thousand years, and maybe more. Many times we've tried to subdue it, to bring it to civilization - but that there forest is the home to the Treånd. And if they have anything to say about it, it'll stand for another thousand years yet. Beware the Treånd, boy. They'll charm you with the parties they throw both day and night, and before you know it, your body will be wasted away with hunger and it will be too late. Never trust the celebrations of the fey.
— A quote from Father Bastien, found in a traveler's journal
Treånd dwell deep in the forests where they can be certain that the evermore industrialized society will not touch their homes. They live in small, intimate groups of other Treånd - there is little that they wouldn't do to protect their own clan.
Natural Grace
The Treånd are a beautiful race when they appear to people in their human form. While within their tree, they may appear as only a few leaves or blossom petals floating along in the wind. But when they venture out beyond, they appear similarly to elves - tall and graceful with pointed ears. Both males and females tend to keep their hair long, leaving it loose or tying it back with intricate braids. Their skin tones are as varied as the colors that can be found in the forest - the deep green of the fir, the grey of the river stone, the blue of the brook, and the brown of the earth.
Revelers
Living in the forest, far away from the everyday cares of the world, treånd do not concern themselves with religion, politics, or any of the other categories that society divides themselves by. Instead, they prefer to spend their time free from care.
Unless you have personally attended a celebration hosted by the Treånd, there is truly no way to describe the merriment had there. While Treånd have no need for food, feasting would not be missed even for a moment with the songs and dances their people perform with such skill it seems they are born with the ability.
While the natural joy of the treånd can be intoxicating, it can lead to problems when they work hard to avoid facing more difficult or negative emotions. If a treånd is vulnerable with you, know that you have been trusted with a great burden of responsibility to handle that information with care.
Protectors of Nature
Every treånd is born bonded to a sapling and ages and grows along with the tree. If their tree is cut or dies from poison or infestation, the treånd perishes along with it. As such, they are raised with a fierce passion to protect the natural state of things.
While most treånd are content to remain with their clan, merrymaking and resting through life, nothing will bring them to rage more quickly than the destruction of the forests and natural formations that they inhabit. When faced with such threats, the treånd prove to be adept at using their abilities and powers to protect their home, and consequently, their clans. Some clans have proven so powerful that they have survived for thousands of years, despite the efforts of advancing industrialization.
Treånd Names
The true names of the treånd cannot be pronounced by the mouths of outsiders, so when treånd accept visitors or venture out into the world, they use Elven names, with the species of their tree as an epithet or surname.

The treånd are so closely bonded with their tree that they do not require sustenance in the traditional sense. While they must still consume water regularly, they do not require food so long as they are able to spend several hours a day in the sunlight. If they find themselves in conditions where sunlight is scarce, in cloudy climates or underground, they risk taking points of exhaustion. They can avoid these consequences for about a few weeks by mixing sugar in their water. Treånd who make this substitution may temporarily lose the pigment in their skin, eyes, and hair until they are able to absorb sunlight again.

Their sense of time is limited, however, and they are unable to see or provide visual descriptions.
