Homebrew Ancient Kraken Species Details
The earliest descriptions of the Kraken don’t give away too much information. They dwell on the creature’s size, claiming that he is “the hugest monster in the sea.” He is so large that he can swallow ships and whales. So large that his body can be mistaken for land, his mouth for a sound, and his teeth for boulders. So large that his movement can create whirlpools.
Ancient Kraken Traits
Krakens or great terrors..and they have the abilities to prove it.Ability Score Increase
Krakens are massive and extremely powerful, thus their strength score increases by 4, their constitution increases by 2, and their dexterity increases by 1. however, krakens are naturally horrifying and have a -3 in charisma.
Age
Like their relatives, the Sea Serpentine, not a single Kraken has yet to die of old age, some say they have been in existence since the ocean themselves were created.
Allignment
All Krakens are naturally evil by nature, but some are somewhat lawful, hunting the seas to kill pirates and expand the great krakens territory.
Tentacled Monster
The Krakens body consists nothing of cartilage forming a semi human upper body and 10 tentacles making up the lower body. These tentacles are capable of attacking, but only a maximum of 6 tentacles can attack, as 4 must be used to keep the kraken balanced (This does not apply if submerged in water) each tentacle is capable of doing a raw 2d6 bludgeoning damage, Aswell as using weapons.
These tentacles can be used to climb and swing, and also give advantage to grappling.
Being made up of nothing but cartilage, you are very flexible and able to squeeze into places any other 9-10 foot beast couldn't.
Color Shifting
Much like an octopus, Krakens are capable of changing their color. you can take a hide action as long as you are adjacent to an opaque object (Example: If against a tree, you can become brown and automatically stealth)
Poison Secretion
As a reaction to being attack or making an attack, you can coat your body in a dangerous poison, if you make an unarmed attack or grapple, you will deal an additional 2d6 poison damage, if you are attacked, the attacker will take 2d6 poison damage.
Resistances
Much like the Sea Serpentine, Kraken are raised in the deepest corners of the ocean, thus they are immune to force damage, resistant to bludgeoning, but vulnerable to radiant and fire damage.
