Homebrew Cricketfolk Species Details

Cricketfolk are an ancient race that take the form of a common cricket, although their true form is widely debated. The two prevailing theories are that: their souls are remnants of the old gods OR they are simply smaller crickets controlling tiny construct versions of slightly larger crickets.

Whether or not either of these is true, the few Cricketfolk that have made their presence known on the mortal planes often present themselves with small top-hats and are known for their whimsical spontaneous ballads. They will often travel with much larger creatures, treating them as a mount for the purposes of in-game mechanics. They prefer not to fight outright, but stay hidden and offer helpful advice to their embattled friends.

Cricketfolk Traits

Cricketfolk are very small, and their ancient lineage make them naturally adept to magic. Due to their size, they are rarely effective in melee combat and often are too weak to wield conventional weaponry or armor.
