Homebrew Dragonborn (Auroran) Species Details

Dragonborn look very much like dragons standing erect in humanoid form, though they lack wings or a tail. The first dragonborn had scales of vibrant hues matching the colors of their dragon kin, but generations of interbreeding have created a more uniform appearance. Their small, fine scales are usually brass or bronze in color, sometimes ranging to scarlet, rust, gold, or copper-green. They are tall and strongly built, often standing close to 6½ feet tall and weighing 300 pounds or more. Their hands and feet are strong, talon like claws with three fingers and a thumb on each hand. The blood of a particular type of dragon runs very strong through some dragonborn clans. These dragonborn often boast scales that more closely match those of their dragon ancestor—bright red, green, blue, or white, lustrous black, or gleaming metallic gold, silver, brass, copper, or bronze.

Originally sharing the homelands of dragons, many dragonborn eventually split and explored on their own, settling far from native locales and diverging into the dragonborn we recognize today. They were accompanied by several dragons who did the same, splitting from the main population to seek riches elsewhere.

The Perils

The Dragonborn and dragonkin in general often separate themselves to their own clan holding great pride for it. Dragonborn are often seen as very proud and sometimes arrogant individuals due to their reverence of said clan. This can often lead to disputes between Draconic houses and bad blood being formed. However, the biggest dispute has been between the recent emergence of the fey and tension around the topic. All clans have differing ideologies on how to deal with them which ultimately ultimately led to them splitting into 3 major groups. These being the Metallic, Chromatic & Gem Dragons. Because their constant fighting and bickering not only between the 3 groups, but also between the individual clans, progression is often stifled due to these internal qualms.

The Joys

The Dragonborn are very diverse individuals as well as many being well-versed in small aspects of the the arcane & forces of nature. A dragonborn could possibly range from a noble archmagi, to even that of a brutish fighter. Though many clans have their preference on their studies & practices, their diversity in passion & capabilities is only rivaled by the Human race. Despite all the fighting between the Draconic clans, their is one draconic holiday that encourages peace and harmony between the Draconic kin. A day to celebrate the Draconic Titan Drungau (Droon-gao) first taking flight with it's draconic wings. This Draconic holiday would be known as (WIP Name: The Flight Festival)

The Products

Some of the more intuitive dragonborn are actually engineers that help with the construction of the cities districts. These individuals having a massive role in the construction and design of their Elder Dragon, (Droon-gao). These individuals are often seen helping and assisting keeping the Dragon afloat, functioning, and more powerful than ever.

The Hope

The Dragon clans don't enjoy arguing or fighting. Ultimately they want the best for their kin and the city. The constant bickering and The fey are preventing that piece from ever being a reality. Ultimately to stand united and become a true force like they once were is a common dream among the Dragonkin.
