Homebrew A'abae'krel Species Details
The A'abae'krel are a class of aberrations that originate from unknown places. Their form is wholly unlike anything else in the world
Strange in Shape
The form of the A'abae'krel is an odd blend of plant, worm, and squid, amongst other features. Their body sports 5 pairs of long, deft tentacles. They sport a long, thin neck with a head like a flower of fleshy feelers. Around their body is a bivalved shell and a mantle, trimmed with short, thick tentacles sporting fanged maws. At the base of the body, in place of feet or a tail, is a wide taproot anchoring them to the earth, or at least whatever pot they find themselves in
An Unusual Lifestyle
The A'abae'krel is not only different in its form. Unlike the familiar humanoids, their lifestyle is much more like that of flytrap plants, or perhaps a siren: They spend their days singing in their fields, attracting various races and beasts. When one gets too close, they are sucked dry of their energy, and their body decomposes into the soil. This is how A'abae'krel find their food as sessile forms. This lifestyle leads to an emphasis on patience and charisma

Posted Sep 5, 2022The Charisma Increase seems kind of insane and it gets extra Dex +3. Usually you would like to keep the Ability Score Increases in range of -2 to +2, maybe to combat it if you don't like the idea of changing it, is to add a vulnerability to fire damage as it is a plant. I assume because it isn't mentioned that the movement speed is 0? meaning unless they are moved they are stuck there? If that is I can understand a portion of the benefits.
In the Languages section, how many languages? 3, 5, all? you specify they know a variety of languages, if that is the case you could give them 3 or 4 languages to know like Common, Sylvan and 2 of your choice.
The sense seems very limiting but could be very interesting, I would like to see it possibly increased to 20 feet so that you may gain some intel on your surroundings then be blind past that limit. (this way it allows some forms of ranged classes to function)
If we are assuming the speed of this race is 0, it would provide melee classes utterly useless as the couldn't get close enough to their opponent. However, you could fix this by possibly giving them an ability which allows either them to move, or force the creature to move towards them. Maybe a vine which snares the foot of the person and they must make a constitution save to not be pulled towards you.
I like the idea of the Healing Drain as it provides a decent bonus to the many negatives, however i think it doesn't fix the problem. if an archer is shooting you from 30 ft away where you cannot see them and you must attack them you have disadvantage since you would be "blinded" meaning the chance of dealing damage in general would be less resulting to this ability not being used very often. I don't really have any problem with this feature itself rather the limits put on the sight and movement functions restrict this feature to not really work.
If you do not care for what I had to say then that's alright too, I just thought this sounded like a cool concept for a character and such wanted to see if I could help it be more balanced.
