Homebrew Amaasi (Auroran) Species Details

Borne of equal parts elemental influence and rigid adherence to order, the Amaasi count themselves as one of the select races more in tune with the forces of the world surrounding them. An individual may be bound to either the Water, Fire, Earth, or Air force, embodying this heritage through actions, ideals, and physical manifestation. Much like Tieflings, elemental natures tend to bleed through in the form of markings on a Hybrid; eye color, birthmarks, etc. 

Due to their diligence and desires to follow a sense of logic and order, many find themselves with a moral guide in the form of elemental Aspects, from whom they seek wisdom, orders, and power. When a Hybrid is born, Aspects of the element it belongs to may work with each other to support them, or possibly even fight amongst themselves to claim the individual as their protégé.

  

A Duty To Uphold, A Fate To Unfold

Much like the Tieflings, Amaasi tend to appear in accordance with the waxing and waning of the Forces’ influence. From a young age, many strive to promote both order and their native element, often under the direction of an Aspect with similar virtues. Not terribly uncommon, however, an individual may choose to strike out on their own according to their own perception of order and chaos, and may reject their brethren's preconceived notions. Amaasi are among the more adventurous of the various races, as they seek to see the world around them, and often are encouraged by their guiding Aspect to spread influence and promote order across the lands.

 

Amaasi (Auroran) Traits

Amaasi are gifted with the following racial traits.

Ability Score Increase

Choose 2 ability scores. One of those ability scores increases by 2 and the other ability score increases by 1

Elemental Upheaval

Starting at 3rd level, you can use a bonus action to release the Elemental energy contained within you, causing your eyes to glimmer in a change of color and wings to appear from your back. Your subrace determines the element you release.

Your transformation lasts for 1 minute or until you end it as a free action. While this ability is active, you gain a flight speed of 30 feet, and once per turn, when you hit a target with an attack or spell, you can inflict bonus damage equal to your character level. The type of damage dealt is based on your subrace (Fire Imaasi deals Fire damage, Water Imaasi deals Cold damage, Air Imaasi deals Thunder damage, and Earth Imaasi deals Poison damage).

Once you have used this trait, it cannot be used again until you finish a long rest.

At 6th level, this ability can be used once per short rest.

At 10th level, you have become one with your particular element. You can use this ability a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus between rests.
