Homebrew Cupid Species Details

Erotes or Cupids are a collective of winged gods associated with love and sexual intercourse. They are associated with love and sexual desire, and form part of Aphrodite's retinue and are often associated with same-sex desire.

Aphrodite's Retainers

The earlier cupids are created out of sea foam, similar to their keeper. Though, as years pass, cupids themselves are able to be with child, thus continuing the line of cupids.

From an early age, they are given guidance from older cupids as to how to spread love throughout the land. There are hardly any maternal or paternal love as cupid strictly focus on the sexual and romantic aspects of love, not familial nor platonic.

Each Erote serves the goddess Aphrodite or other deities of love. They answer to her or to her son, Eros, the god of lust, as he is regarded as the first Erote.

Hidden Artisans

Erotes often mingle within the mortal realm while still not being mortal themselves. They do not reveal themselves as it is crucial to ensure that the humanoids they work on do not detect their presence.

When traveling, Cupids often bind their wings or use a glamour to hide their wings. While keeping them bound for too long does present a myriad of issues, it is one of the more common methods of concealment. One of the more easier ways to find an Erote in the crowd is looking at their eyes; their irises take on the shape of a heart.

Love Crafted

Cupids take on many forms of making people fall in love. These can come in a myriad of methods such as bows and arrows, music, smells, taste—anything that can be tainted with aphrodisacs specially made by an Erote.

These are effective against the majority of species.
