Homebrew High Elf Species Details

The elves are a proud and noble race, although their history is filled with much evil. Natively they live in built houses within the Elvish Forests. Elves are skilled at a variety of things, but may struggle to master any one.

Old Bones

Some of the oldest archeological finds in the world center around the northern end of the Elvish forests. The culture and religion of the Elves seems to be the oldest, although nobody knows for sure, as the Elvish language gained a writing system comparatively late in its development. The Elvish religion is monotheistic, worshiping a single goddess. In order to become the High Priestess, the ruler of the Elvish Empire and leader of the Orthodox Elvish Church, a woman must train for many years. Men can be religious scholars, but cannot be religious leaders.

A Terrible History

The Elvish Empire once had the most territory in the entire world, and not by accident. They obtained that land through force, even gaining control of the entirety of the Nymphish territories. When the New Elvish Democracy segregated from the Elvish Empire, they gained control over the Nymphish territories, and allowed them home rule, although they kept them under the federal laws under the new government. Although both governments have calmed down in recent years, they're still healing from centuries of bad reputation.

A Perfect Balance

The Elves are extremely skilled, capable of a vast range of tasks and with few gaps in between. Their only major flaw is their tendency to be quite rash. The Elves primarily work with ranged combat and magic, but are capable of melee combat as well.

Your Strength score increases by 2, your Intelligence and Charisma scores increase by 1, and your Wisdom score decreases by 2.

Age

Elves reach maturity in their late twenties, and can live longer than usual, around 110 years on average, with some lucky enough to reach 140.

Size

Elves range from 6 to 7 feet tall and have slender builds. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Elvish. Elvish is fluid, with subtle intonations and intricate grammar. Elven literature is rich and varied, and their songs and poems are famous among other races. Many bards learn their language so they can add Elvish ballads to their repertoires.
