Homebrew Dark Soldier Species Details
Many dark soldiers are created simply when they sign a contract with the Dark Lord. However, some children born during the Dark Lord’s reign were touched by his influence. Sometimes, these shadow-touched children spread the shadow to their parents, sometimes, the parents still treat the child as their own. Most of the time, the parents abandon the shadow-touched child, leading them to grow up on their own, often becoming travelers and warriors.
Dark Soldier Traits
The dark power growing within you manifests itself in various ways.Ability Score Increase
Your Strength or Dexterity (your choice) increases by 2, and two ability scores of your choice increase by 1.
Age
Dark soldiers live many times as long compared to their human counterparts. They reach maturity at around age 20, and can live to be 1000 years old.
Alignment
Many dark soldiers that are abandoned turn to evil, but some still try to be good people. They tend towards lawful, because of their nature as soldiers.
Size
Dark soldiers are generally slightly shorter than the average human, and weigh a bit less. Your size is Medium.
Speed
Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Shadow Training
You gain proficiency in simple weapons.
Dark Resilience
Your hit point maximum increases by 1, and increases by 1 whenever you gain a level. In addition, you have resistance to necrotic damage.
Unholy Force
When you hit with a weapon attack, you can roll one extra damage dice and deal necrotic damage equal to the amount rolled, in addition to the weapon’s damage. If the weapon used rolls 2 damage dice instead of one, you instead roll 2 extra damage dice instead of one. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining expended uses when you finish a short or long rest.
