Homebrew Changeling (MLP) Species Details

Changelings are a form of Pony, albeit much more bug-like than Equestrian ponies.

Capable of flight and magic, Changelings exist in a very uniform lifestyle, with little to no variation between them.

Changelings have certain advantages and disadvantages in comparison to Ponies, although mostly only advantages.

ADVANTAGES:

Flight and magic - Changelings have both flight and magic, both useable simultaneously when in their base form.
Shapeshifting - All changelings can disguise themselves as Ponies, and at higher levels (Or with artifacts) can cast illusions that make them seem to be whoever they want.
Hivemind - Changelings have access to the hivemind, granting them the ability to instantaneously communicate with any other Changelings, as well as any other beings also attuned to the hivemind.
Emotion eating - Changelings can feed off of most any emotions, (the exception being Hatred, which acts as a poison) and while able to metabolize regular food, feed mainly on Love, meaning rations are rarely needed for a Changeling.

DISADVANTAGES:

Brittle shell - Changelings have an exoskeleton made of chitin, meaning that while it takes more to get through to their flesh, they take longer to heal, and are much more easily hurt than other beings once a wound has been opened.
Porus bodies - Changelings are riddled with holes along their hooves, wings, tails, manes, and occasionally other extremities, greatly reducing their aerodynamics, rendering them to be slower swimmers and fliers.
Emotional starvation - While able to metabolize regular food, Changelings are heavily reliant on Love as their food source, and can only go so long without eating it before they collapse from hunger, and if the issue is not swiftly resolved, soon die.
Mindlessness - A common disease among Changelings is Mindlessness, an ailment only able to develop in Changelings, and capable of turning changelings into soulless killing machines focused on one task: to serve their Queens, or in rarer cases, Masters.
