Homebrew Deep-Sea Triton Species Details

In the deep waters of the open oceans many creatures call the cold depths home, but none are more dangerous and evasive then the Deep-Sea Triton. Born from the union of Umberlee and Sekolah, these triton are known for the massive size and strength. With females of the species easily reaching lengths as long as 18 feet within their aquatic homes. While on land females average about 6-7 feet in height. The deep sea triton men treat their women with respect, as the women of this species are the deadlier of the gender.
Deep-Sea Triton women are known for their gift, often called Umberlees Song. This is where the myths of Sirens sprang from. This does not mean that these tritons are anything but terrifying with bioluminescence markings that shift with their emotions (an easy method of communication) and the second mouth present on all females these tritons are creatures that haunt every well-traveled sailors nightmares.
Mermaids are the softer evolution of the deep sea triton, often loosing the gifts of their parents with the evolutionary chain

Deep-Sea Triton Traits

As a triton, you have the following racial traits.

You are Medium.

When in aquatic form you are a large creature and gain a swim speed of 40ft

Speed

Your walking speed is 30 feet, and you have a swimming of 40ft

Amphibious

You can breathe air and water.

Siren’s Song

At the start of your turn you can chose to use your action to let out a discordant melody known as a Siren’s Song. All creatures within 30 ft of you that you do not consider Allies must make a dc 16 charisma save. On a failed safe the creatures are stunned for a period of time (30 sec-1 min). If Siren’s song is used by itself the creature takes 2d8 psychic damage, if used with another attack the damage is lessened to 1d8. Any creature who succeeds on the save is not stunned and only takes half damage. You can use this a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus and regain all uses on a long rest.

Darkvision

You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light and in darkness as if it were dim light. You discern colors in that darkness only as shades of gray.

Emissary of the Sea

You can communicate simple ideas to any Beast, Elemental, or Monstrosity that has a swimming speed. It can understand your words, though you have no special ability to understand it in return.

Guardian of the Depths

Adapted to the frigid ocean depths, you have resistance to cold damage.
