Homebrew Cow Folk Species Details
Wooly gentle giants
Rather intimidatingly, these humanoid highland cows can stand up to 10 ft tall and often dress in heavy woollen clothing heavily inspired by the Celtic people. Both men and women can look rather similar, both sporting beards, long messy hair and muscular flat-chested bodies. They often have lots of piercings and will sometimes even decorate their horns with ornate jewellery. The cow folk can come in a colourful range of colours, from fiery ginger to coal black, or even pure snow white, which it is considered to rather attractive to adorn white fur.
Constant movers
Cow folk are often misunderstood due to their rather simple lifestyle on a small island cut off from the rest of the world. They are considered rather primitive with their lifestyle and magic technology, living in small constantly migrating tribes that live off the land and having very basic uses of magic. heards often change locations of their camp every autumn and spring, so that they don’t deplete the land around them too much.
Social life
Cow folk live in very tightly knit communities that care and support each other even when it seems trivial, the youth usually being handed out tasks such as cooking for the heard, staying lookout in case of encounters with dangerous beasts or butchering the catches the hunters have brought in. Adults are often in charge of hunting and gathering, or anything that involves leaving camp and taking care of the heards livestock and women with children too young to take care of themselves will often stay within the camp. Elderly don’t usually have any designated jobs, at most there will be a single doctor within the heard.
brutes in battle
As kind as the cow folk are, they will survive at all costs.
cow folk can be rather scary individuals in battle, tough enough to endure being shot without armour and strong enough to sling around weapons that are half their weight without breaking a sweat. Their downfall comes to their lack of knowledge in modern magic tech and small numbers, making it very hard to communicate between heards and organise a proper war when being attacked.
