Homebrew Child of Light Species Details

Children of Light are the essence of the stars. Small humanoid creatures, their lifeforce is fire and their weakness is moisture. All Children of Light are featureless beneath their unique masks, and the outline of their appendages is very vague. Children of Light emit a constant glow reaching around 5 feet. Despite their plain appearances, Children of Light each have distinct personalities and customize their appearances with unique clothing and hairstyles. Their hair is snow white and doesn't appear to have distinct strands. Children of light cannot speak any known language, and instead have a unique vocal tone they use to "honk" to communicate with others. They are capable of understanding spoken language and can write. Their main attribute is their ability to fly using the collected soul fragments of other Light Children. They keep these souls in their capes as both a mode of transportation and as a way to keep the souls safe on their journey to the afterlife. This journey is the main drive of all Light Children and it is their understood purpose in life. They exist to collect and guide the spirits of their brothers and sisters to the afterlife, where they will take their place among the stars. 

Child of Light Traits

Children of Light are made of starlight and thus are healed by fire. In turn, fire cannot damage them.

Winged Lights

The more winged lights that are collected by them, the longer that a Child of light is able to stay airborne. Each level they acquire is another Wing Wedge that appears on their cape, and each Wing Wedge allows for a longer duration of flight, in and out of combat. Each level allows the Child of Light to fly and remain airborne for an additional round of combat, and Flight levels can only be recharged through rest or direct contact with a light source.

Natural Warmth

at first level, a Child of Light gains the cantrip Light. when they use this cantrip, it may only be used on themselves to increase their natural 5 ft. radius glow.

at fifth level, a Child of Light gains the cantrip Control Flames, and is able to manipulate sources of fire around them, and only to expand or move the flames, not to extinguish them.

Language

Children of Light are not able to speak in any way shape or form but are able to understand and write in Common and Celestial

Resistances and vulnerabilities

Children of light have a vulnerability to cold damage but are immune to fire damage.
