Homebrew Draconi Species Details

Draconi are a strong prideful people of otherworldly divinity, living in the world but not entirely part of it. They live in all places of the world where they can obtain status or control over mortal affairs, where there is wealth to be gained or Daemons and Dwarves to be slain. Draconi covet honor among the vast dragon kind, wealth, and war against all daemon and dwarven kind and seek the destruction of Tiamat and her brood through war.

Intimidating Beauty and Strength

With their unearthly grace and dragon features, Draconi appear hauntingly beautiful and intimidating with its dragon-like features to humans and members of many other races. They are slightly Taller than humans on average, ranging from  6 feet tall to just over 7 feet. They are more Stout than humans with other worldly physical prowess, weighing only 160 to 350 pounds. Males and females are about the same height, and males are heavier than females.

Draconi coloration encompasses the normal human range and also includes skin in shades of Pale to the color of their scale running down their spine, hair mimicking their once pure color, and eyes like pools of clearest water or pools of blood. Draconi have no facial hair and little body hair. They have strong powerful tails and elegant small wings that are reminiscent of their kin. They favor the thick of war, and enjoy riches of their noble and troubled linage.

Blood of the Immortals

Draconi look to never age after reaching maturity at roughly one hundred years old. Giving them a broad perspective on events that might trouble the shorter-lived races more deeply. They are more often amused than excited by mortal sqaubles, and more likely to be Callous with a hint of greediness if they see and opportunity to expand their power. They tend to remain prideful in everyday life and abrasive to those they deem below them. When pursuing a goal, however, whether adventuring on a mission or learning a new skill or securing wealth,  Draconi can be focused and relentless. They are slow to make friends and fast to make enemies, and even slower to forget them. They reply to petty insults with disdain and to serious insults with vengeance.

Like the wings of their giant kin, Draconi are strong yet flexible in the face of danger. They trust in strength, violence, or compromises to resolve differences that benefit their ends. They have been known to hunt down anyone who harms their kin for generations, confident that they can simply annihilate any foe. But when the need arises, Draconi reveal a stern martial side, demonstrating skill with arms and strategic minds at their disposal.

Ancient Realms of Draconic Wealth

Most Draconi dwell in large castles built by their ancestors or in ancient long forgotten mountain holds, ancient forests, sandy deserts, fallen kingdoms, and polar wastelands. Draconi hunt game for sport, fight for wealth, and wage war for their kin, and their skill at combat at arms gives them unrivaled prowess in all the lands. They are talented generals, knights, lords, smiths crafting finely worked weapons and armor. Their contact with other races is usually in the field of battle by being knights for higher. Draconi encountered outside their own lands are commonly traveling advisors, knights, or generals. Human nobles compete for the services of Draconi instructors to teach swordplay or command their armies.

War of the Beard and Scale

During the war all the Draconi houses fought and many where wiped out leaving only a handful of chromatic houses survive. The war dragged on for nearly 500 years and left most houses extinct or on the verge of death. Most houses combined their strength by color of scales. A small amount of Dwarven holds were either depleted of most of their riches or destroyed out right due to hatred. Many Draconi took beards as trophies to insult the Dwarves and bring shame to their families.

The Shattering

Born out of the want for freedom from Tiamats dictatorship. A rogue band of chromatic dragons completed a powerful ritual. Upon completion they gained their freedom but at a steep cost, they awoke to see themselves as man with hints of their once proud forms. They also found that a small portion of Tiamats curse remained giving the new humanoid dragons their unique corks. The five most famous houses is House Vigilus of red dragon blood, Varlock of blue dragon blood, Callidus of green dragon blood, Nylus of black dragon blood, Polar of white dragon blood.

Tiamat's Curse

The dragon goddess was angry with your race for breaking her hold over your minds. In retribution she took your ability to fly and ability to use your breath weapon. Striped from their natural abilities, the freed Draconi had to learn new ways of combat which helped win wars against unexpected enemies.

Exploration and Adventure

Draconi take up adventuring out of lust for wealth. Since they are so long-lived, they can enjoy centuries of exploration or ruling. They dislike dwarf society, which is due to there long wars that have left the Draconi in small numbers compared to their mortal counter parts, so they find careers that let them gather wealth or rule mortals at their own pace.
