Homebrew Ancient Vampire Species Details

Remnants of a bygone age lurking in the dark recesses of the world, Ancient Vampires are different from the more commonly seen vampires in that they are not resurrected corpses, but are instead born already walking the line between life and death. They are a true race of undead almost as old as death itself. They are proud and haughty, not acknowledging the sovereignty of shorter lived races, instead being guided by personal principles and the rules of set by their society since time immemorial.

Ancient Vampire Traits

As an ancient vampire you gain the following benefits and weakness

Sunlight Hypersensitivity

While in sunlight, you has disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks. You are also weak to Radiant damage.

Forbiddance.

As a vampire, you can't enter a residence without an invitation from one of the occupants.

Stake to the Heart.

If a piercing weapon made of wood is driven into the vampire's heart, the vampire is paralyzed until the stake is removed.

Living Dead

Being an ancient vampire, while you are well fed, you will appear mortal. You must feed once per 48 hours. Any living creature must make an Insight check against your Charisma check to see through your disguise.
If you go too long without food, your body will begin to desiccate, making you appear corpse-like. When this happens, you have disadvantage on deception checks to maintain your guise. 

Dead Organs

Being ancient, you have had alcohol all your un-life. You have advantage on Constitution saving throws for drinking alcoholic beverages. However, vampires do not digest human food as it has nowhere to go. If human food is consumed, you must make a constitution saving throw against vomiting. If successful, the food will still need to be expelled at a later time

Natural Weapons.

Your claws and fangs are natural weapons which you can use to make unarmed strikes, they deal 1d4 + your Strength modifier in slashing damage for your claws and 1d6+ your strength modifier in piercing  damage for your fangs 

Already Dead

You siphon power and life from others, not the other way around. You are immune to necrotic damage.

Vampiric Mist

You have the innate ability to cast Misty Step at will.

Vampiric Sight

As predators of night, the eyes of a Vampire are sharp. You have Darkvision through regular and magical darkness. You also have advantage on perception when in darkness or dim light. 

Shadow Walker

As a creature of the night, you know how to quietly stalk your prey,. Your enemies have a hard time seeing you giving you a bonus of + 2 in Stealth. 

Blood Sense

As a creature with heightened senses and a thirst for blood, the vampire can smell blood up to 500 meter away.

Vampiric Levitation

At all times you are capable of floating about 2-3 inches off the ground. Anything above this can only be sustained for 10 minutes. Levitation speed is equal to walking speed.

Sleepless Death

Because you are technically dead you don’t require any sleep, only a form of meditation where you are still alert and aware of your surroundings.
