Homebrew Brown Bear Species Details

Brown bears being the most common species in Sibearia says nothing about their uniqueness and strength. Their powerful build and natural fishing prowess makes them incredibly important to many of the nomadic tribes there, and their ability to eat just about anything makes them low-maintenance tribe members. The few brown bears that leave Sibearia often go to New Pork or Trassia due to their survivability with a varying diet.

Brown Bear Traits

Brown beard are rather large and imposing members of the mammal group but their skills honestly come more from their generational skills and adaptability.

Darkvision

With the eyes of a bear, you have darkvision out to a range of 60 feet. Darkness in this range is treated as dim light and dim light treated as bright.

Powerful Build

You count as one size larger when pushing or carrying objects.

Tooth and Jaw

Your powerful jaws and sharp teeth do more damage than normal. Your unarmed strike deals 1d4+ your strength modifier piercing damage instead of the normal unarmed strike damage.

Natural Fisher

Much of your bloodline has gotten by by catching fish primally, with claws and teeth. Because of this, water doesn’t hinder your attacks. You roll attacks without disadvantage due to being underwater and your movement in water is only reduced by 10 feet instead of being halved.

Intimidating Stance

It is truly a spectacle when a brown bear ditches their hunch and truly stands at their full height. As a bonus action, you can assume a stance that makes you appear larger than you are, giving you advantage on all intimidation checks until the end of your next turn. Alternatively, you can use this feature as an action to make an intimidation check against a creature’s wisdom saving throw. On a success, that creature is frightened of you until the end of your next turn. You may use these features once each, regaining their use over a long rest.
