Homebrew Werewolf Species Details

Werewolves are either made or born. While there is the usual bite and turn, werewolves can also be born by 2 werewolves. Natural born werewolves will take on a combination of appearance of their parents when they are not the wolf. If they were bitten and turned, they take whatever form their original body was. The werewolf that bites can decide whether or not to make the person a werewolf, as they have small holes in their canines, like a snake, that allows them to dose whoever they bite with the werewolf disease. In the beginning of being a werewolf, they do not have full control over their transformation or actions while transformed. However, this can be changed. Under intense training, usually done while they are quite young, or recently made, they can learn to control the beast inside. For natural born werewolves, the transformation doesn't come around until about age 10. If a werewolf is made, it still shares the same strengths and weaknesses as it's previous race while in wolf form, while also having the strengths and weaknesses of a wolf. If a werewolf decides to breed with another that is not a werewolf as well, the child is stillborn. Vicious warriors, with an overwhelming feeling of responsibility towards whatever group they are in, often willing to risk it all if it means protecting the group, their "pack". The werewolves are particularly good as fighters for their strength and agility, or as rogues for their alert senses.

When entering a fight, the player chooses whether they want to use their wolf form or not. They can vary how far they transform, ranging from just using one wolf part at a time to a full-on wolf. This can also be useful while keeping scout for enemies due to a wolf's innate hearing. While fighting, if they are fully transformed, they get a strength boost of +3 to all successful hits. If they get down to 5 hit points or less, the player can choose to "release the beast". When this occurs, the player has a +4 chance to hit and +3 damage along with their previous boost from being transformed. However, while the beast is released, they do not have control on who they attack, and have to make 3 saving throws to "cage the beast" again. If the beast cannot be recaged, the player is stuck in that form until knocked unconscious or killed. If the player is knocked unconscious, they have to make another 3 saving throws.
