Homebrew Caninefolk Species Details

 

In the villages. On the farms. On the street, and in the mansions. Caninefolk can be found anywhere. They can be found amongst riches, or amongst scrap and rot. A race so spread amongst the masses that there is no one occupation they specialize in. Many become butlers and servants for those with the money. Others are left to fight and tear and go to a life of crime. Some become guards, others become lost.

Snout and Fangs

The caninefolk sport a mouth of sharp fangs and teeth. This gives them a fighting advantage against many other races, and helps them eat and devour meat and flesh. long the mouth is the caninefolks snout. The snout helps with sniffing and smelling out goods and dangers.

Along with the caninefolks unparalleled sense of smell, the caninefolk also spout a pair of ears. Ears that help find and locate objects, allies, and foes. These two abilities make the caninefolk great guards and helpers.

 

Canine Mannerisms

Caninefolk is a lot like their less humanoid cousins. Dogs and wolves. They are social creatures and live a life of loyalty and trust.

Some caninefolk decide to live a more natural life. They flee into the forests and lands, where they hunt and live in packs. They mate and eat. On some occasions, you can hear some of them howl at the moon.

The caninefolk are very terretoriel. The canines serving as helpers for families, often see the homes as their master's territory and will protect it with their life.

 

Homelands

The caniefolks are spread among the lands. Many are taken to the mansions and houses as helpers and servants, while others are left on the street to fight. Many live in forests and outskirts, where they hunt and survive, while others guard the cities and villages. The caninefolk doesn't have one simple environment to habitat in.

The ones that are taken as servants for the noble houses and families, often show pride and loyalty to those they serve. While the ones growing up in the street usually decide to join gangs and help with anything they can do. But one thing all of the Caninefolk share is their loyalty to their family and friends.

 

Canine servants for the house. In almost every wealthy home and fortress, you will find a server, a butler, or a personal helper, whom share the racial similarity to the caninefolk. This is because of the loyalty that lies in the hearts of most caninefolk. Many families realised the possibelities the canine humanoids could create. A loyal helper who would do anything you aksed. Someone who would give their life for you, and who would alarm you of any dangers. There has yet to be a more popular pick for servants.

 

 

Great Purpose

Most canine live only to keep their friends and families safe. It matters not whether it's brothers by blood or a strong bond. Most don't seek a task. Though there are exceptions.

The caninefolk left on the street, usually only want recognition from whomever they see as alpha. Be it killing or stealing, they will do anything the alpha says, even if all they get is a pat on the back.

The Canines living in the secluded lands and forests, often only choose to live like their less humanoid canine cousins. They don't seek anything particular. Few of them decide to go from the pack. They have no problem seeking the carnal pleasure of any kind, and all too often get into situations with other foreign races. They will protect what's theirs, and if you step into their territory, you better run quick or have a good excuse.

The more noble caninefolk simply live the life they have been given. Thanking their lord and master for taking them in, and giving them a place to live. Although most do look down on the other lifestyles lived by canines, they usually decide to forget about their relation, even if it's family.

The guards often have little to say or to think. They do their job with pride. And protect the people.

Canine Names

 Depending on their life, the name of the caninefolk can change a lot.

The caninefolk serving families and masters are often given names by them. Whether it's pet names such as "Puppy, Bb, and Flowerpuff" to more normal and formal names like "Charlie, Louis, and Bella".

The caninefolk from the street, usually go without a name until a master gives them one. Or they name themself from whatever they can think of.

The canines of the wild, usually go with nicknames, or simply nothing. They could be named "Gray wolf, White Hunter, Moon Howler," and so on.

Caninefolk BACKGROUNDS

Backgrounds that are most appropriate for Caninefolk include the outlander, the soldier, and the noble.

The canine folk usually live under one of four enviroments. As servants for the wealthy. As gaurds for the citites. As stray on the streets. And as wild creatures in the outskirts of the land.

Caninefolk Traits

As a canine, you have a great sense of smelling and hearing. Your race is known for its loyalty and trustworth. You can be anything from rich to poor. You succeed in being athletic and flexible.

Ability Score Increase

Your Dexterity score increases by 2, and your Wisdom score increases by 1.

Age

Caninefolk reaches maturity by age 10. Compared to humans, caninefolk don’t usually live longer than 50 to 65 years.

Alignment

Most Caninefolk are lawful good and rarely choose chaos. Although the wild canines are more likely to be somewhere on the neutral scale. And the canines on the streets are often on the evil of chaos scale.

Size

Aarakocra is anywhere from 5 to 7 feet tall. They can have thin, lightweight bodies that weigh between 80 and 100 pounds. Or they can have big, heavy bodies that weigh between 101 to 170 pounds Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 35 feet.

Fangs and Claws

Your talons are natural weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with them, you deal slashing damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common, and Blink Dog. Aswell as a language of your own choice.
