Homebrew Warrior Jar Species Details
The Warrior Jars are creatures that originally were not supposed to exist. They are containers used to store the corpses of past warriors, and their sentience came as an after-effect,
a grafting of dead consciousness into a sprout of new and vigorous life.
Warrior Jars follow in the footsteps of the predecessor corpses inside of them. They often become battle-hardened and gain power by adding more corpses to their bodies.
Some of them seek said power by scavenging battlefields, where they devour the vessels of long-lost warriors. Others participate in the chivalrous sport of dueling to the death, but many of them become adventurers tracking down the life they want to have.
Warrior Jar Traits
Ability Score Increase, Natural Armor, Jar Spin, LifegraftNatural Armor
The body of a Warrior Jar is large and unsuitable for armor. Your base AC is 17, but you can't wear armor. You can use shields as normal, however.
Jar Spin
The Warrior Jars are capable of retracting their legs into their bodies, just like a turtle can retract its limbs into its shell. They can use the base of their pot-like bodies to slide across the ground and perform a spinning unarmed attack. This attack cannot be used in difficult terrain.
Upon using this action, the Warrior Jar must make a hit roll. If the attack lands it will deal 1d12 (slashing or bludgeoning) damage to all enemies in a 10 ft line. The Warrior Jar must move along the 10 ft line. If the Warrior Jar's hit roll does not surpass the AC of an enemy along the 10 ft line, the Warrior Jar will miss and must stop its movement along the line.
Height
A Warrior Jar can range from 3ft to 8ft in height.
Rest
Warrior Jars can hibernate for 4 hours and gain the effects of a long rest. While they are hibernating they are conscious of their surroundings and can hear, smell or feel almost without fail.
While sleeping, Warrior Jars often relive past battles or simulate fictional ones in a dreaming state.
Lifegraft
A Warrior Jar can place the corpse of a past warrior into their bodies as an action. This will allow them to roll a 1d6 and add the result to their hitpoints. If they are at full health, the result will be added to temporary hitpoints.
Iron Fist
The limbs of a Warrior Jar are made of stone and other solid materials. Their unarmed strikes are much stronger than the average race.
Ability Score Increase
The body of a Warrior Jar is strong and tough. +3 to Constitution.
